I heard on the news this morning that the board of education screwed up. The Muslims wanted recognition on the calendar for one of two holidays. One of those holidays coincided with one of the Jewish holidays. This whole thing could have been resolved just by adding the name of the Muslim holiday on the same date with the name of the Jewish holiday.

"Muslim leaders had focused their efforts for the next school year on having the holiday of Eid *al-Adha recognized with equal prominence on the published school calendar because the holiday falls on the same day as Yom Kippur, when Montgomery schools are already closed. They had said the step was symbolic but important."

I'm pretty anti-PC but I could care less if they put the Yabba-dabba-doo holiday on some school calendar. Everyone's free to observe their own holidays. Gives me the chance to say to the young'uns: Yeah, there's Muslims in this country and they are pretty much overrunning parts of Europe and some of them can be pretty bad and we'd probably prefer they stay over there in the desert which partly explains why we're sending troops and stuff over there.....

If I'm being sarcastic it's because we tend to stress out over the wrong stuff and almost always come to the wrong resolution.

No worries here. I personally avoid it but don't view it as bad when others use it.

Yuppers, put my vote down for "just add it to the calendar DUMMIES".

Sort of a "run it up the flagpole and see who salutes it" noting that for this holiday it'd be "only the lonely". If the eventual object is to get it on the calendar so the school district can then be coxed into teach of it, then they have to be graded as "fail". Hard to teach a bunch of American kids anything about Islam. Too many awkward questions for the poor PC stuck teacher to answer about the three "B's" of ISIS.

No offense here either, I am of a slightly different opinion than my mother when it comes to religion.
My intent was to point out the difference over time. Back then using the shorthand form was really frowned upon. Nowadays it is very common among the general populace and not given much thought. Today it is frowned upon to do anything negative with respect to Christian or Jewish faiths but not other religions. In the future, who knows .......

Couldn't believe this! So I called Hilliard Bradley High School in Ohio and it's true.....Muslims are given a special place to pray in the high school. Hilliard, Ohio has an exclusive room for Muslims to pray....OH YES, just call the school yourself if you don't believe this.


So Sorry, NOT PERMITTED for Christian, Jewish or any other religion.

I can't begin to state how deplorable all this is. Our children are prohibited to recite the Lord's Prayer, not allowed to bring a Bible to school, not allowed to wear a Christian-themed T-shirt, not allowed to have Bible study class at school, not allowed to display a picture of Jesus; and now our leaders are going to use federal tax dollars to promote Islam to "our children" !!!


Enough is ENOUGH ! Where the heck are all those "Christian-hating, separation of church and state" atheists? Why aren't they lining up to sue the federal government over the use of federal tax dollars to promote a religion in our public schools? I would be willing to bet that nobody will hear a peep out of these "Freedom From Religion" organizations.


Obama Administration Announces Nationwide Muslim Outreach Program For Children Grades K-12. American children gathered around a Muslim - learning about the Qur'an for school credit.

Washington, DC - At a recent press conference, President Obama announced plans for the first ever federally funded Muslim outreach program. The program was available nationwide for all elementary school students grade K-12 as of February 1st, 2014. The program is designed to educate children about the fundamentals of the Muslim religion and Islamic belief. President Obama spoke with reporters to explain why it is so important that these outreach programs exist.
"The Muslim community deserves our full understanding and respect," Obama said. "We have killed millions of Muslims overseas since the September 11th attacks.

"These folks are not all bad. In fact, most of them are hardworking citizens just like you and me. I encourage every student in America to participate in your school's Muslim outreach program. Learn about the Muslim community, the beauty of the Sunnah and the magic of the Qur'an."

Thirty-five-year-old Paul Horner, a teacher at Starks Elementary School in Louisiana, told MSNBC he is excited about the new programs. "I think anything a child can learn is good. We need more learning in this country. And, these classes are not mandatory but children can use them asextra credit towards other classes. For example, if Becky has a D+ in math she can simply take a three week after school class on the Qur'an and now she has an A in Math. How great is that?"


The Muslim youth outreach program is designed to help young people from different cultures work together to break down ethnic barriers. Their goal is to help promote a greater respect for other cultures, understanding while at the same time learning about all that culture has to offer.

Khaled Matei, who is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, told CNN he is pleased with Obama and his actions.
"I spoke with President Obama by telephone yesterday and personally thanked him for what he is doing for the Muslim community," Matei said. "This is definitely a step in the right direction I explained to him. Praise Allah."
