I ran across this story, and wondered what others thought of it. It proposes that America is becoming a police state, a pretty common theme the last few years. Not like ones in Eastern Europe of course, but still far more restrictive than Americans are used too. There are some things in the article I agree with, like the forfeiture laws being misused, and others I don't necessarily agree with, but can see where they are coming from.
I wonder what those in Law Enforcement think too. Particularly how you like the Feds, are using local police as their first line of defense or oppression, depending how you look at it.

The police are your public servants. They only do what we tell them to do. I doubt seriously that you would be treated as well if you were arrested in just about any other country. Breath easy. Obey the law.

SnoopDog got his start in "entertainment" by rapping in malls. He would start in front of a store, draw a crowd and his crew would be in the store stealing everything from the shelves. Magicians call it prestidigitation aka sleight of hand. I have travelled to world and visited over 40 foreign countries. The USA is NOWHERE NEAR a police state or even remotely close. I have seen police states the USA is NOT one and will NEVER be one.

Also agreed, and let's also not be rabidly paranoid and compare anything with a mustache to Hitler, or every health and safety regulation to pre-war Germany. People we don't agree with, especially on the topic of guns, may be misguided but we don't help our collective credibility by making inanely stupid analogies.

All we do by being rabid fear-mongers is get FOX and their affiliates paid, and conversely push the left further into the left, making MSNBC rich, all the while paralyzingly our political process with partisan bickering. There are millions of common needs that both sides could agree to were it not for this "we want it all" extremism on both sides.
