Bush brought all of the tools, Obama left the vacuum. For political expediency in satisfying his base, against all recommendations, he not only pulled out early but he broadcasted the timetable for every savage out there.

Every worst case scenario that he was warned about has come to fruition. Then he disregards the evil monstrosity that is ISIS and who capitalized on the void, referencing them as JayVee, then admits to not having a strategy at all to deal with them. And now he states the U.S. should embark on the course of "Strategic Patience."

    Obama did it.

This. Let's call a duck a duck. We know how to shock-and-awe with an amazing military, but our coalition-based nation-building sucks.

And Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and entire casts of political officers, analysts and congressmen on both sides of the isle. Don't for a moment fool yourself that Obama gets reports any more or less biased than Bush received.

Absolutely, except we weren't privy to the Intel and activities immediately post 9/11. And while we're certainly not versed in the details of today, a fifth grader could've told the president that a hasty withdrawal sans Status Of Forces Agreement would create a vacuum.

One secenario is more heavily weighted in Intel, the other deeply rooted in common sense.

Common sense also dictates that the man does most everything with regard to political expediency so I offer him zero benefit of the doubt. None.

Equating ISIS to the Crusades and today Susan Rice attempting to minimize ISIS' threat saying it's not an existential threat like WWII and the Cold War.

Yeah? Ok, and WWII didn't just spring up as an existential threat either. Signs were missed, activities were dismissed and downplayed. Amazing how he'll point to history in a sophomoric attempt to protect Islam but he won't heed history's warning just the same.

The reason being... the more credence he lends to ISIS, the more detrimental they are to his legacy with regard to the early withdrawal and J.V. comment. Political expediency at all costs, it's all he knows.

I've been hearing both republican and democratic commentators say today that Jordan's involvement is a game changer, and several Muslim clerics are now describing ISIS as non-Muslim.

You didn't get that when the US charged into every rope-a-dope situation we were teased with. Give our intelligence and security forces some credit, not to mention the administration's. It's easier for a commander in chief to use military might than to use global politics.

Charles Krauthammer had an interesting article on this, specifically what ISIS is trying to accomplish by doing something so apparently stupid. And naturally our Commander in Chief is playing right into their hands: http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinio...6de_story.html

So the strategy was: let them bomb Boston, behead innocent Americans here and over there, and commit other unspeakable atrocities against us and do nothing for 6+ years. We'll also stand by when they capture and enslave hundreds of non Muslim girls, kill innocents in French magazine offices for cartoons and not even send a representative when the whole world rallies against them. Eventually they'll burn a Jordanian alive and Jordan will be mad enough to fight them with its tiny air force, and that will turn the tide.

Brilliant. Why didn't we think of that?
              Rest in peace Muggsy

No, that's just you armchair quarterbacking in the belief that individual crimes can be stopped before they start, and that we could fight everyone on our way to peace like we could screw everyone to virginity.

You should start a Future Crime division and recruit Tom Cruise.

These are not "individual crimes" They're part of a worldwide campaign of (lets say it together now) ISLAMIC TERRORISM.

BTW the Boston bombing could certainly have been prevented by an administration that was even half-ass serious. Putin (of all people) tried to warn us about those guys but we ignored it.

I guess the new Obama foreign policy security agenda of "Strategic Patience" is catching on with some. Never a more feeble lead-from-behind initiative than that. Pathetic.

Let's go back to the days when we ignored the Middle East. Buy our oil somewhere else, push for new energy technologies (we need to replace oil and nothing in play right now can do it). Next let the Middle East stew for 5 years and then redraw the countries borders. If Kurds want their own country they can vote to have one and we will draw a border, if the Shiites want a country we draw them one, and repeat for each group. We might come out with 3 times as many countries over there, and each country may be tiny but really would anyone care? This lets them rule how they want and will keep them busy kicking sand at each other. China will start buying their oil and we can start a practice of buying and trading from countries with good human rights and stable governments. Next we bring defense technology back in house and eliminate foreign sales of weapons. Then pull our forces back and go isolationist with swift retribution for crimes committed by or against US citizens abroad. That's my start. I'd ignore Isis and focus on rooting out terrorists at home. Any attempts to usurp civil law with religious law results in the boot no matter the religion. The most a religion can do is prevent membership or excommunicate. Anything beyond that is not their business on earth.

I am with you on leaving that part of the world alone and finding alt energy to help in that end BUT I am not for drawing any borders. That's a bunch of wars I am not ready to start.

Well I feel so much better after Odumber went on live TV for a press conference earlier today and said that ISIS was only an extremist terrorist group not an ISLAMIC terrorist group and the reason they act the way they do is due to extreme poverty and oppression....That's great news, now we don't have to fight um but just sign them up for Obamacare and give them food stamps and welfare and they will start to behave....

I think Obama is either insane or has mental issues and needs to resign except then we would have gropin Joe to call the shots....

Obama can't seem to say the words Islamic and Terrorist in the same sentence for some reason...He will say we are not at war with Islam but with the extremist terrorists of ISIS who the last time I checked were all of the Islamic faith....Not a single Mormon, Baptist, Methodist, Catholic Hindu, Budist or Jew in the bunch...Go figure
