Seems to me that the democrats ran Chicago in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90s, etc. Evidently they didn't do a very good job of policing the police if torture was taking place on their watch. The things that make you want to go hmmmm. I remember how they handled the anti-war protesters in Chicago outside of the Democrat National Convention. Gave them a beat down as I recall. Fine bunch of politicians. How soon the left forgets.

if your a historian you might recall WW2 when various countries were united in the struggle against the Japanese to see who would be the boss in the pacific. digging down a little we find Gen. McArthur running the show for the Americans, there were Australians, Chinese, Philippines, countries in S.E. Asia like Viet Nam(see French Indochina), all on the same team.
" In the mid-1940s, the Viet Minh leadership, under Ho Chi Minh, looked to the West for help in its independence movement and got it. As World War II ended, the United States and its allies, most of them former colonial powers, now confronted a new problem. Independence movements were emerging all over the East. But former colonial powers had lost their military muscle, and the Americans simply wanted to "bring the boys home." During the war, the United States had sought any and all allies to combat the fascist powers, only to find, years later, it may have inadvertently given birth to new world leaders either through misconceptions or missed opportunities. Vietnam's independence leader, Ho Chi Minh, had been only a relatively minor figure just a few years earlier. In 1945, Ho became the leader of a movement that would result in revolutionary tumult for decades to come."
hehehehehe, US foreign policy fails again. we could have got out in front of that, but no. and the Dems ate it and the Repubs ate it. 50 thousand Americans, many who couldn't find the damn place on a globe died there. for what? "stemming the tide of communism in S.E. Asia?" BS! died for squat.
ok, fast forward to Daley's Dem convention and the hippies getting beat up by the Chgo. PD. "America, love it or leave it".
all part of the history of a country, the rise and fall, the fantasy and the reality, the chickens coming home......
kids these days that are into making money might still call some city in the US homebase, but they're global in business and if they're smart have money offshore.
(even the Bush's have a 10,000 acre spread in Paraguay where there is no extradition, and a Swiss style banking system).
and you folks think electing Rand Paul or Ted Cruz is going to change your lives? Bawahahahahaha! good luck with that.

Too much of a good thing is not a good thing! Simply not trying to correct a course because you are going to be blown off course again is not the answer either. Electing Rand Paul or Ted Cruz might not change my life, OR it might. Without the right, there would be no left!

That's profound! I need a few minutes to absorb this. I agree totally.

I like to think of it as, "Without the right, there would be ONLY the left!" How would you like to live in an America like that? NOT me!

Some people have a very jaded view of politics. I don't vote democrat or republican. I vote conservative.

Those who died didn't die in vain. They died for the cause of freedom. The war was lost because it wasn't supported by those on the liberal left.

                              Agreed.

Vietnam was a political loss more than anything.

                              RIP Gary, Steve, & Butch.
