Sen. Rand Paul and the Rev. Al Sharpton met for a “candid” breakfast date [in October, 2014]. “We talked about his position on dealing with some criminal justice issues that I am concerned about,” Sharpton said in a statement from the National Action Network, where he serves as president . . . Sharpton and Paul tweeted that they “don’t agree on much,” but both were in the Senate Dining Room to discuss working toward reforms that would benefit the African-American community.

It seems like the longer they are in office, the difference between Republicans and Democrats starts to blur. Their main interest is staying in office, lining their pockets, and to hell with their constituents and what they want. It's more like what can we do for Monsanto, or Big Oil, or the military industrial complex, or the people standing in the shadows pulling the puppet's strings.

The problem is most honest people want nothing to do with politics. I knew a very honest local man (the town pharmacy owner) that did a term as state representative, and he quit after his one term. He said it was pretty disgusting. When he got there the party leaders told him to sit down and shut up, and vote the way they told him. They wouldn't introduce any legislation he wrote, or anything, until he "proved" himself a loyal party member. If he didn't vote the way he was told too, then the party leaders really messed with him. I think he was Republican, but that was quite a while ago, and I can't be sure, but knowing the guy was very conservative, I'd say he was Republican.
He was pretty disgusted at the stuff he saw going on, and that was just at the state level. He sure let everyone know that would listen how things worked in the state house.

^^^ THIS. I had a buddy who ran for Senate and they ripped him to shreds. Made him out to be a crook and a sex fiend and none of it was merited. Didn't matter. The damage was done and he never got elected. Why would anyone do that to themselves and their families?

My point? Politics is so corrupt that only the corrupt will partake in it.
