Dang Muggsy, I didn't know about all this. Per my Dad's advice many years ago, I don't believe anything I hear and only half of what I see. In this age of the internet I can add "read" to that statement.

Snopes is invaluable. I don't accept or believe anyone's claim to be neutral and I suppose if its a judgment call, I expect snopes to "lean" lib. But on issues like this, did she say it or not, they've been spot on. Some things are either true or not. Snopes gives enough detail, and generally sources their stuff so you can check it out yourself. As for the "snope of snope," it's addressed at the end of the article here:

Snopes often takes a wierd twisted extreme version of a quote that's way beyond the version I've heard, and says no, that's not exactly ly what he or she said. Well duh, no kidding. Newt didn't actually say he'd push grandma off the cliff?

Ya, you can't just go with the green/red dots. Gotta read the whole thing and draw your own conclusions. But I get lots of emails I WANT to believe. Just today I got the one about the mayor of montreal supposedly telling off muslims who want the canteens to stop serving pork. Turns out the story has gone around, first it was the Mayor of Arth, Belgium etc. Great letter, wish it was true, but false. That's what Snopes is good for.

I think she is twisted enough that she believes it. But she doesn't acknowledge that not all vets were exposed to combat, or any danger at all. Why should they in particular be banned from owning firearms. It's just her twisted way of trying to limit another class of people from owning firearms.

I think anyone that has been in congress more than one term should banned from owning firearms. Since you learn all about corruption and how to profit from it in that snake pit. You can almost watch them as they enter as a junior representative, and learn their way around, and become a little more crooked each day as time goes on. The biggest share of them anyway. I think a few manage to hold on to SOME scruples.
