  • Justice Antonin Scalia Dead at 79

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead in his home today. He died at 79 years of age of natural causes. Justice Scalia was appointed by President Ronald Reagan and was the longest serving and most conservative Justice on the Supreme Court. President Barack Obama will be appointing his successor with congressional approval. The balance of the court is expected to be shifting to the left. Now more that ever it is vitally important that a true conservative win the White House in the next presidential election.

The blogosphere is going NUTZ with various political machinations of this sad occurrence. I even saw one person suppose that Obama would step down, to be appointed to the SCOTUS, tipping the balance. Then, Hillary steps aside from the nomination since Biden would then be running as the incumbent President, insuring Hillary against legal problems if he was subsequently elected in 2016 since he would pardon her in the future anyway.

            Oh, my head hurts.

                That says it all.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

That's exactly how it needs to happen.

Hillary seems unconcerned about losing the presidency or being indicted. Maybe she'll be the court nominee, planned all along.

Mitch McConnell has said the nomination should be made by the next President. We'll see if he backs it up with any backbone though.

I think he will. Problem is Scalia was a great champion for the good guys. Irreplaceable. Absence removes one of the few remaining pillars of freedom in this country and in the world.

Step 1: Obama nominates a liberal judge
Step 2: Republican controlled Senate Judiciary Committee holds confirmation hearings
Step 3: Senate Judiciary Committee advances the nomination to full Senate, also Republican controlled, with a negative report and recommendation not to pass.
Step 4: Republican controlled Senate votes down Obama's nomination

There's no way Obama will have a successful appointment with a Republican controlled US Senate.
