  • Alabama Mother Stops Criminal In His Tracks

Martha Lewis, an Alabama mother, shoots an intruder to save herself and the life of her two daughters. On August 14, 2012 Martha heard a loud noise at 3:00am. When Martha went to check to see what the noise was, she was surprised to find out that it was a thug kicking in her door.

Lewis grabbed her weapon, and called the police. She then ran to her daughters’ room and told them to grab something to protect themselves. Martha and her daughters were at the top of the stairs, when they saw the man about to climb up the stairs toward them.
“I knew when he stepped on the landing that I would have to shoot him,” Lewis said, “He starts like coming up the stairs and he said, ‘would you shoot me?’ And I said ‘I don’t want to have to but I will.’” The criminal ignored her and Lewis fired her weapon. What would have happened if this mom was not able to defend herself? This story could have had a horribly tragic ending.

Lewis spoke of her fear and uncertainty during the home invasion. “It wasn’t like, oh can I pull the trigger? It was like when should I shoot? When will he be close enough that I know I won’t miss him?” Fortunately for this quick-thinking mom, she didn’t miss. The thug stumbled outside, where he was apprehended by police.
The intruder, 25 year old Michael Jacobs, was hospitalized and listed in stable condition and is facing criminal charges. Lewis is not facing any charges.

“How many attempted crimes are prevented by law-abiding citizens with weapons? Lewis said, “There’s so much talk about banning guns and gun control but they’re for protection,” she said. “There’s no way that I could have fought him off.”

Thank God for the Second Amendment, and that Ms. Lewis was exercising her right to bear arms. Due to another law abiding citizen being armed, another criminal is off the street. I am proud that Ms. Lewis didn’t allow herself, or her daughters to become victims. Once again; proof, that the police cannot always get there in time. That good law abiding citizens with a weapon are not only a deterrent, but are also helpful to police officials by helping to catch criminals.

Editor’s note: In addition to Ms. Lewis having her firearm, her daughters were also armed with an ax and a knife! I would say this guy would have had an extremely bad day had he made it further than he did.
    Very interesting...

Yep, those Alabama ladies have guns and know how to use them.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Always good to hear a positive story about guns. I applaud Martha for doing what had to be done for the safety of her family. Thx for sharing!

I'm happy for Ms. Lewis, that she was prepared and able to defend herself and her daughters. I hope they will not be emotionally scarred from the incident.

Not everyone CAN pull the trigger and if you wait until that faithful last half second or so to try to come to terms with a decision like that, it might be too late, and then the bad guy is better armed and more pissed off! This is even harder if you haven't practiced firing your chosen defensive weapon!

maybe they won't. I bet they deer hunt in the fall and field dress them their self. The girls had an ax and butcher knife. I don't think I'd mess with any of them.

Very proud of the ladies standing up for themselves.

This should be a huge boost to gun rights and an example to the whole country. But the media will bury the story.

Anyone who is at a physical disadvantage should have an easy legal defense when it comes to a defensive shooting, and should also be entitled to act sooner rather than later.

Well they do if any of us are sitting on the jury...
I was once asked if I was "a paranoid for carrying my Kahr".
                        "Nope" I said, "just prepared".
" prepared for what" he asked?

Being that we (Alabama) are a castle law state and gun loving, she should have no problems.
