I hear the Pocatello region has a lot of survivalist/prepper types. I guess there is are quite a few white separatists in that area too. I think the locals are a bit suspicious of new people that move into the area, they don't like people that might be govt. agents or informers and such. Especially since the Randy Weaver fiasco. But that area is probably safer than a lot of other places in a SHTF situation. My state was listed as one of the ones that have already passed similar legislation. Eric Holder sent the Governor a letter raising hell about the law, but got told to but out, that it was state business, and none of his concern.

Those folks are VERY pro gun and very patriotic.
The some of 2012 we spent a few weeks in Boise, ID and loved it.
There were many gun stores there but the one we enjoyed the most is called "Boise Guns". It was a well stocked (boxes everywhere), the folks were friendly and knowledgeable, and they had all kinds of cool guns on the walls. There was even a
"blunderbuss" from the early 1800's.
Best of all the prices were reasonable.

In a earlier life I was heavy into real practical pistol and rifle shooting. We would travel from Or. to ID. to compete. The ranges we went to were all hot ranges, meaning you walked around with loaded guns, I could live with that, we do it around our house.
All the courses of fire they designed were really radical. Not just shooting at bad guys, but pistol whipping and carrying wounded comrades out of harms way. They even provided dummy grenades.
That was for pistol courses. For practical rifle you needed a bayonet. If you didn't have one, you could duct tape your pocket knife to the muzzle. You shot, butt strucked & thrusted.

There were also matches like that back then in a place called Boardman Or.

And, they just raised the speed limit to 80. Idaho is sounding pretty good.

They did that years ago also. Kind of an in your face to the feds. The feds told them if they didn't enforce the 55 highway limit they imposed they would cut off their federal highway funding.

Idaho told them to keep it. They do some pretty great stuff.

For awhile there was no speed limit. Have a friend that lived over there and traveled through to Montana.

Kansas and Oklahoma have passed bills that forbid any local authorities from assisting Federal agencies in attempts to disarm the population. Governor Brownback promptly received a letter from AG Eric Holder, informing him that the law was unconstitutional, or some such crap. Brownback wrote him back as follows:

The State of Kansas is in receipt of your letter in which you place Kansas on notice regarding the view of the Obama Administration concerning the state’s Second Amendment Protection Act.

The right to keep and bear arms is a right that Kansans hold dear. It is a right enshrined not only in the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, but also protected by the Kansas Bill of Rights. The people of Kansas have repeatedly and overwhelmingly reaffirmed their commitment to protecting this fundamental right.
The people of Kansas are likewise committed to defending the sovereignty of the State of Kansas as guaranteed in the Ninth and Tenth Amendments to the United States Constitution.

The state’s Second Amendment Protection Act, which expressly restates our commitment to these rights, was approved by wide, bi-partisan margins in the Kansas Legislature. The measure was adopted by a vote of 35 to 4 in the Kansas Senate with the Democrat Senate Minority Leader supporting the bill. The measure was adopted by a vote of 96 to 24 in the Kansas House of Representatives. Again, the Democrat House Minority Leader voted for the bill. This is not a partisan issue in Kansas.

The people of Kansas have clearly expressed their sovereign will. It is my hope that upon further review, you will see their right to do so.

I saw that. It's about time the states reassert their unenumerated rights as expressly granted to them in the Constitution that they gave to the central government.
