Apparently their business is so good they can afford to turn away a sizeable part of the community with money to spend.....

All smoke and no fire. Chipotle has politely asked gun owners not to bring rifles into their Texas stores. Not a big deal as gun owners can still bring in their concealed handguns. I think Chipotle is being very civil about it and I hope the activist gun owners will be just as civil and respect their request.

As I read the press release the first line says: "Chipotle is asking that customers not bring guns into any of their stores"....If you want to spend your money at establishments that publicly don't support your 2nd Amendment Rights to do so then be my guest....As for myself, if a business publicly asks that I don't bring in my gun that's fine by me and I will be happy to stay away and keep my wallet out of their business as well....

The way I read it, they mostly just don't want folks walking in with AR's slung over their shoulders.
It says they try to comply with state laws.
I guess even I would be slightly concerned if somebody wandered in with a rifle over their shoulder.

I don't think we got any Chipotles around here, never heard of them so I guess it won't be a hard issue for me to deal with.

I do as getsome states, stay out of places that don't allow guns, no big secret there. The drones and black helicopters know that already.

I think it was in response to some people that walked into one of their stores carrying their black guns.

This is how I read it to.
Said they would prefer it if people did not bring them in (due to people coming in with Rifles recently)
But went on to say that they ask that everyone obey they're local laws.

Is it legal to open carry a long gun in Texas...yes. Does that mean you should open carry one with you everywhere you go? No.

We can also conceal carry so if you feel you need to carry why not do it that way where you feel comfortable knowing you have it, and others that disagree are also comfortable because they are oblivious to the fact that you have one.

I'm writing your name down on my list of folks with common sense.

The list is very short and we need all the help we can get.

Its been discussed here before adnauseum but some feel it is our right to open carry so we have to test law enforcement and make sure they know the law.

A right not exercised is a right lost, but I don't agree in this case.

I like the open carry law only in the event I have a wardrobe malfunction and my weapon (oh, Mickey didn't like the term weapon) my GUN shows. I'm still ok and not brandishing.

I never open carry ever. Well once in awhile mowing the lawn I open carry. Keeps the neighbors guessing.

Some local business around here post no "open" carry. One of them being my dentist. Another being IHOP. IHOP specifically addresses the issue by asking their customers to not "open" carry out of respect for the comfort of other customers. I have no problem with either business, I do not open carry except on my own property.
IMHO, hard-line gun owners who demand "open" carry anywhere that is legal or ask the store be boycotted are just as wrong as the hard-line liberal who demand "no" carry in businesses or ask the store be boycotted.

Does it say what they will do if someone exercises their God given constitutional right to keep and bear arms in their establishment? I say, "Hasta la vista, baby."

It says that they are asking you to follow your local laws.
Says nothing about concealed carry just asking that you not open carry so that all patrons feel comfortable there.

I cc in Chipotle all the time. If I see a sign that says no firearms, I will be eating somewhere else. Until then pass the salsa.

Well I guess I better back up and clarify my post a little, I think open carry is a dumb idea even if it is legal in your state for two reasons, one it gives you away to the bad guy who will shoot you first in a robbery and two, it's bad for our cause and turns some in the public who either dislike or are afraid of guns against legal law abiding gun owners....

I think those fools that open carry an AR and try and provoke the Police for a Youtube video deserve to be beach slapped all the way back to last Tuesday for being idiots and that crap does way more harm than good for the rest of us desperately trying to hang on to our 2nd amendment rights...That being said, I will also admit that if I were in a restaurant and some dudes came in with AR's over their shoulders it might bother me some too and I would be REALLY glad I was CCW but I don't think a business should go overboard and disallow ALL guns especially concealed pistols in a kneejerk reaction just because of one isolated incident in a single store....

My LGS has a sign at the door that says "Concealed pistols OK but keep um heeled" and I like that....If I see a No guns allowed sign I just go somewhere else or if I really need to go in that particular place I just forget to read the sign cause I'm ADD and I can do that if I want to, just ask my wife....

"Oblivious". Good word choice. Those "others" are oblivious to a lot of things now that you mention it.

Count me among those who will respect Chipotle's wishes by staying out of their stores: me and my firearm.

We ate there once, didn't like it. That's all the reason I need to boycott it.

But their gun ban is utter folly. They can't ban concealed carry unless they put a guard at the door to frisk everyone. Since they won't do that, the ban is just touchy-feely liberal unicorn farts.

I say, eat there all you want, and concealed carry to your hearts content.
