  • Second Amendment Enforcement Act

In light of the Heller Supreme Court decision, the NRA has been working with Congress to improve gun rights in Washington DC. Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) have introduced the Second Amendment Enforcement Act which would:

    * Repeal the DC semiautomatic ban.
    * Restore the right to self defense in the home. (Currently DC gun storage requirements are onerous.)
    * Authorize purchases of firearms and ammunition by DC residents. (There are no gun shops in DC and ammunition sales are non-existent.)
    * Repeal overly restrictive registration requirements. (After Heller, DC was forced to back down on ownership, but put ridiculous and expensive hurdles in place.)
    * Ensure firearms may be transported and carried for legitimate purposes. Word on the street is that they would allow for not just CCW but open carry in DC as well. Indeed!

If passed (especially the last point) Washington DC would have better handgun laws than Maryland or the other nine “may or no” issue states!

Any state other than Illinois, or perhaps New Jersey, has better handgun laws than Maryland.
