Smooth, no checkering. Bought these brand new for my K40. I love the look, but they are a little wider than the stock rubber grips, being I have small hands, I'm going to sell them. Seen here on my pistol (not included). They were on my gun for 50 rounds then taken off. New condition. $42 shipped to conus. Require a US postal money order.
