I have an alien gear. Like the feel. HATE the retention. The kydex isn't defined enough to lock the gun into the holster. Only half of the gun is covered by kydex and the mounting hardware is so far away from the gun it allows the leather to bulge out and make for a loose pocket for the gun to sit in. Inversely it also allows the leather to sink into the cavity making reholstering more difficult. Im waiting for my friend with a new XDs and a mini tuck to give me a real world view of that holster b4 I decide if I want to drop the coin.
Don't get me started on the unprotected edge of the leather backing. Snag the slide release on it one time while reholstering and it will bloom. It's like they pressed the leather and bumping the edge makes it release. BUT for $35 or whatever I paid to try out a different style holster to see if I like it- worth the money.

I can't speak to the leather AlienGear, but I'm really liking my neoprene version so far.
