  • Black Talon Anyone?

In my endless quest for searching for deals in ammo, came across this one:9mm Winchester Black Talon 20 ct 9mm Winchester Btlack Talon 20ct [9mm Win BT 20ct] - $99.00 : AlamoAmmo.com, We Stock Ammo - We Don't Stock Promises

Bummer if I did not know better that the Ranger Series is the same thing as the Black Talon, I would have fall for it, however, the price does not entice me to buy this beauties at that price. :40:

    4) It should fire a cartridge of sufficient power.

It's collectable. That's the only allure. Well...that and the fact that it's outstanding ammo. But not that good.
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

Dang! Collect, hell! That's the amount I shot out of my nines the other day at the range, but I managed to spend about 2 1/2 hours firing 220 rounds or so with a fair amount of a-buck-a-pop defense ammo. It took so long 'cause I was taking pictures and patching the target after just about every magazine.

Gunbroker, has it also for about the same, that is if you don't have to go head to head with another bidder!:86:

Wow. I used to shoot Black Talons like they were going out of style. Hell I still have over 1000 of them. And have every intention of keeping them.

I picked up several boxes of BT last year. I bought a bunch of SD ammo last year from a guy who was selling out. First I had seen in a while.

I'll stick to Winchester Ranger if I want Winchester SD ammo. $100 will get me 5 or 6 ounces of silver bullion!

                    Black Talon

My PM45 hates Black Talons! I have not been able to get through a complete mag without a malfunction(feed or eject)!
With the shape of the round itself, I can't even hand cycle them without jamming in the ejection port.
IF(little word, big meaning) the proportions are the same GOOD LUCK!

Does anyone shoot Talons out of their Kahrs? and if so what kind of reliability are you getting?
                    Cheers,
                    Dave

                      Wow...

Thought I was the only one who still had some BT's....I was buying it up back in the early 90's when it was cheap...$10.99 a box according to some of the price stickers...for every caliber I owned:

                      45acp, 9mm, 44mag, 357mag...still carry it in my Para Ordnance P12-45.

Also still buying the Ranger SXT (“Same eXact Thing” / Supreme Expansion Technology) when I come across it at a gun show.

Actually, I got quite a few different brands in my "exotic" round collection...Triton Hi-Vel, Elderado Starfire, Federal Gold Dot, Remington Golden Sabre, Mag-Safe, Glasers, CorBon, and Speer Flying Ashtray and CCI Shotshell loads.

I have a box of 9mm and a box of .40S&W. I didn't know the price was so high right now. I have had them since the early 90's, when I bought them for my Taurus 99 and a Firestar m-40. Oddly enough I just traded in the Firestar for my CW40. The Firestar was my first handgun and I loved it. It was just too heavy for daily carry.
