Ammunition shortage

I seem to be having increasing difficulty finding ball rounds and the price is skyrocketting is anyone else experiencing this or is it just my location...midsouth...that might be the issue?

That is what I have to say every day I go looking for some. I live in New England and it doesn't matter who I go to or what state. MA RI ME CT NH or VT. nothing. Its kind of scary.

Ammo has become increasing available in these parts, with prices returning to almost normal. 7-9 dollars for 50 rds of 9mm ball.

I'm seeing more ammo and better pricing that what it was for a while. I'm lucky that I have enough on hand that I wasn't hunting for ammo during the shortage. This way there was more for the rest of you!

Don't forget that you can order ammo online (depending on local/state laws). There are many reputable online retailers.

Here in North Carolina I`m starting to see a lot better selection in more places. All calibers too including .380. However,prices are dropping more slowly than in other places it seems. I`m still seeing 9mm ball at the 12 to 14 dollar range for 50 rounds. I`m glad I reload.

380 was up to $75.00 per box of fifty near Chattanooga TN at one time. Now it is about 19.00.

I realize it depends on what caliber ammo you are looking for, but here in Oklahoma I have had no problems finding my share of 9mm ammo. I do think the ammo shortage is over and more will find its way to the shelfs.

I often wonder if the shortage was due to real panic or hype by the firearm industry. Ment to choke a few more dollars out of us?

My impression is that this is the result of several factors; the first is military demand for ammo, filtering down to law enforcement for training rounds from the commercial market; the second is hoarding by the public afraid that the current administration is going to try to restrict access to guns and ammo. I don't see the military demand going down anytime soon, but the anti gun forces seem to have their hands full right now. Availability seems to be getting better but the $6 or $7 for 50 round days are probably gone forever.

Here in NE MS I’m finding that our WalMart is beginning to get reliable (more or less) supplies of 9mm (Winchester 9mm 115gr FMJ, $23.56/100rd Bx) and 45ACP (Winchester 45 ACP 230 GR FMJ, $34.97/100 rd Bx).

Just yesterday they got in some .380 (Winchester 380 AUTO 95GR FMJ, $38.49/100 rd Bx). While that’s not exactly an outstanding price (ouch!) at least the 380 is showing up on the shelves.

By the way, I’ve no connection to WalMart.

$36.50 at the range today. Wasn't looking to buy, but saw the 100rd/wwb boxes on the shelf and asked the price....first .380 ball they've had in months.
