  • +P ammo ok in a P380?

I'm about to take delivery of a new P380 and I'm starting to think about what to carry after the break in. I'm interested in Buffalo Bore ammo and specifically the +P HP and Flat nose products. Just wondering if +P is ok to use in a P380 and if anyone has experience shooting it with this gun. THx

I shot the Underwood 95 + p in my P380 today and it rocked. The gun can handle the +p rounds.

Think the main issue with +p 380 is that there isnt a standard for what +p 380 is.
      Unlike 9mm and 45.

sure can, it can take BB ammo, if u can. Just sayin. Lets face it, I doubt if ur gonna shoot +P ammo other than defense ammo and then range testing for reliability. Pretty expensive to punch holes in paper.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

My carry ammo is BB +P Gold Dots... the 90-gr JHP. It's the most powerful .380 that you can get and it beats 125-gr +P .38 special out of a 2" snubbie in every way. I've fired over 160 rounds of BB +P. Some of it was the flat nosed 95-gr stuff. That might be a consideration for winter time where people wear really heavy clothes. It does penetrate. I've done several video still posts of BB firing... awesome... like firing +P 9mm in my PM9.

The bullets are Speer Gold Dots and moving a lot faster than the Speer GD's that are also great .380 ammo.

Not trying to one up ya Wynn, but I shot some really wildcat stuff last May that was unbelievable. 68 Grain solid copper JHP. 5 shot average of 1289 fps from the P380 with calculated 251 Ft/Lbs. of energy. I got 1354 from the Bersa Thunder CC and an unbelievable 1314 fps from my tiny Taurus M380 Revolver with the 1.75" barrel. Primers were flat as pancakes and the brass expanded visibly on the revolver brass. These have to be red-line loads. I have one box left and I think I'm going to soak them in WD-40 and get rid of them. Scarey stuff, but all 3 pistols are still fine so that Buffalo Bore shouldn't hurt your P380.

Remind me to test that Buffalo Bore load for you this Fall. We just had a Cabela's open up down the road so I can get the stuff now.

Did you see this from last week? http://mousegunaddict.blogspot.com/2...d-channel.html After seeing the results with my own eyes, I'm seriously considering switching over to BB FMJFN 95 +P for the colder months and sticking with the UMC Leadless for the other 9 months of the year.

I used to load Cor-Bon 90 but they changed the bullet (along with the box color) and I would get a top round in a mag of 6, feed hang up. The new bullets were "rough" at the HP opening edges and this is what was doing it. I switched to Buffalo Bore +p w/ 80 grain Barnes bullets. Nice ammo!! BB 380 standard power HP also functions well.

You could do worse by not using the Remington Golden Saber.
