I just got some Speer 230-grain Gold Dot Short Barrel in from an order I placed on Dec. 19. I thought I would show the difference between this version and the regular Duty GD's and the Bonded Remington Golden Sabers. I re-boxed the partial box of BGS. It doesn't come in 25-rd boxes... just 50-rounders.
I also ordered a bunch of .40 180-gr GDSB and +P 9mm 124-gr GDSB from Ammo to Go, who promptly charged my card and later sent me updates that shipping would be delayed until sometime between 14 and 18 January!
I'm glad that I didn't wait until I got low on SD ammo!
Anyhow, here are some pictures.
First the Speer 230-gr GDSB's, then I add a 230-gr DUTY round and a round of 230-gr Bonded Remington Golden Sabers for comparison. The duty version of GD's has a narrower deeper cavity. The Short-barreled version's cavity is wider and about 1/10" shallower for more rapid expansion from a short-barreled pistol like our Kahrs. Then there are some closeups of the cavities. With the Remingtons, remember that BJHP means Brass-Jacketed hollow Points, not BONDED ones. Even the dealers are confused sometimes. The Golden Banner is added to the Bonded versions.
The Bonded Golden Sabers can be differentiated by the green sealant around the primers... from the regular un-bonded GS.
