I've been using the last two and just tried the gun-deals. It's eye opening to see the price + shipping when you enter your zip code. Even sub-6˘ per round deals get costly when you are limited in number of boxes and still have to pay about $15 for shipping.

I usually avoid Cabela's because of the limits, but I've been receiving small shipments, sometimes one box of 50, but I put together as many different types of .22LR to kind of spread out the shipping cost. I order only "In Stock" stuff and the order goes through... then I find out it's ALL backordered.

I had three orders like that with one or two 500 rd amounts and a few single boxes. It has been arriving in bits... a 50-rd box... 5 100-rd boxes... and once two items in the same box, but I eventually get the ammo. It just takes 2 to 4 weeks. It's maddening that they keep offering the same stuff for sale (in stock) that I have on backorder.

Some of the "deals" low price + shipping being around $40 - $50, have been showing up at the gun shows. I've actually bought a few things at the gun show and beat my shipped price on the same item.

I'm still not lucking into any .22LR at Walmarts or Academy locally. They have most everything but .22, and the prices for that is higher than I want/need to pay.

Anyhow, thanks for the post. With patience and vigilance you can find something decent once in a while.

Still a shortage if folks are willing to pay 28 cents every time they pull the trigger. I think the price is outrageous.

The best deal I've found locally was the Tula Brass MAXX... brass-cased 115-gr FMJ at Walmart for $23.97 a hundred rounds in a round plastic container. I got 3 boxes once and 2 another time. I haven't tried any of that, though. I tested one of the cartridges with a STRONG magnet and it's completely NON-magnetic.

The last buy, the clerk informed me that he had dropped one of the two boxes and it had burst spilling ALL of the rounds out onto the floor. It took him a while to gather them up, count them, and tape the package back together. I still took them. They were all there and I found some other boxes/trays to put them into.

This picture is from one of the many posts about Tula Brass MAXX online:

For you folks that refuse to go to Wal Mart, thank you.

Ur distaste just makes a shorter line for me to stand in, when I buy ammo

Congratulations for supporting an empire that supports the Chinese, underpays American employees, hires workers with no or suspicious work documents ,takes the high moral ground and therefore will not sell evil handguns (even Obama could not accomplish that), sends profits to corporate headquarters instead of recycling profits in the local community and whose self avowed sole purpose is the elimination of small American businesses. One recent example. Wal Mart contracted with an American sock maker. The maker enlarged the factory, hired American workers and made a quality seamless sock. Wal Mart canceled the contract and bought socks from the Chinese to save a penny on each pair.

On the other hand, The people that work for Wal Mart do HAVE to have good ID, and are not on welfare.

MOST all of big business in this country will screw over the employees to make more profit. This applies to government (giant business) and most producers/providers of goods and services.

There are of course exceptions to this "normal" method of operation. And unless you will only do business with "mom and pop" operations you are supporting the same "method of operation" that you so dislike about Wal Mart.

If you dig deep enough, you will find that the bigger "they" are the more evil they contain.

Mean while I know/have known a large number people that would have no job or chance of getting a job were it not for the Wal Mart type of businesses.

Would you rather they were on welfare, and therefore be working for the biggest offender of all?

I do not intend to start a fight over this. My opinion is my opinion, and put forth to provoke thought on the matter.

And of course, until such a time that the "Bill of Rights" is done away with, you are welcome to voice your opinions.

A few weeks ago, my local WM had a bunch of 100 rd 9mm Brass Maxx. When I asked the clerk to unlock the display cabinet, he reached under the counter and pulled out an unopened case of the same ammo. He said he didn't have room on the shelf for the three cases he had just received and asked if I wanted the whole case.

Sold! 1000 rounds for $239.70 OTD.

A few days later, I returned to the same store and was surprised to see the shelf still loaded with the familiar round plastic jars. I didn't feel guilty buying another 1000 rounds.

I agree with what you said,WalMart is not the only offender. I do try to support my local community and buy American whenever possible. I earlier got carried away but the point I was trying to make is: My personal decision is not to buy ammo at a Sporting Goods store that will not sell handguns.

And I do support your decision to do so. I in no way would think badly of you for this decision.

These kinds of decisions and the ability to make them are supposed to be what our country is all about.
