  • Lehigh Xtreme Penetrator- will it feed?

I've been seeing some really good reviews from the YouTube ammo testers. Just wondering if anyone has tried some out. Specifically looking for feedback on reliability feeding in a CM9.

Exotic rounds like that always seem like gimmicks to me. I tend to stick with mainstream ammunition companies. These super whiz-bang rounds usually cost so much I don't really feel that I can afford to shoot it as much and often enough to trust it in any semi-automatic pistol. I've been involved in shooting sports for over 50 years and noticed that more and more. people are more interested in finding one bullet that is a "death ray" instead on concentrating on the basics.

In order of importance: 100% reliable functioning in your pistol, bullet placement (in the bad guy), adequate penetration and then and only then, expansion. That is why I buy my carry ammunition by the case and shoot it a lot. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than buying cheap practice ammo and then a box or two of carry ammo and hoping it will work when needed, but how much value you do you place on your life? Join a local range, practice more, read gun magazines and internet articles less. Good health.

+1 Well, said and I couldn't agree more.

Most people wouldn't know or feel the difference between one ammo or another. Spend your money wisely on known, trusted factory ammo.............................they all penetrate, they all expand, and they all hurt.................

It gets a good review in .380. Guy in the video wisely mentions - in so many words - to determine whether or not the round will feed in your particular gun.

Is it true, as some have said, that using exotic ammo could be an issues should you wind up in a criminal or civil lawsuit?

Muggsy never agrees. Must be the pain meds.
            Rest in peace Muggsy

Totally agree with Pointblank on importance. Having said that, Lehighs worked fine in my CW380. First round had to be a slingshot in order to chamber. I use Federal HST or Hornady Critical Defense in my CM9.

I've use Lehigh XP in my 380 (Kahr CW380 and Ruger LCP) and my 38 (Ruger SP101 3").

I've fired somewhere between 50 to 100 rounds total with no malfunctions at all. It feeds reliably in my LCP and fed reliably in the CW380 I used to own. There have been no light primer strikes.

I don't think it's exotic ammo. It's simply a solid copper bullet that has a flat nose with grooves cut into it. It does very well in FBI protocol ballistic tests. It's my EDC ammo for the Ruger LCP and I'm confident it will perform as well or better than 380 HP or FMJ should I ever need it.

I've not bought any for my 9mm guns, yet.

muggsy: Let's face it, being shot by a .380 will ruin anyone's day.
