Wal Mart: Federal Versus WWB

All this time, I thought I was doing fairly well with my Remington purchases. I usually saved a few bucks, all my guns shoot it without a single problem, it hits close enough to where I'm aiming and it cleans up fine.
Now I find out I'm not supposed to be getting these results from Rem ammo. Great!!! Now I have to chuck all these boxes and go purchase some Wolf steel case.
Look out Gander Mountain, here I come.

I have used the Remington UMC in the 250 round value box (the yellow box) a lot. There is absolutely nothing wrong, bad, or dirty with it at all.

The Federal Champion & Winchester Whitebox in 9mm both shoot okay in my CM9 & Glock 19, but the Federal American Eagle and Magtech are both much more accurate in both guns at the range and don't cost much more.

Was at Wal Mart yesterday looking for range fodder. I saw that purchasing two 50 round boxes of Federal Champion .45 ammo was $2 cheaper than a 100 round box of WWB. I've never really noticed the Federal .45 before and have always purchased the WWB.

If I purchase 9MM or 40 S&W ammo from Wal Mart I always go for the Federal Champion over the WWB due to price. Anybody have experience, good or bad, with the Federal Champion .45?

Federal Champion was recalled in the .45s within the last year. Google it for lot numbers or call the 800 line of Federal.

Triggerman How does that Taurs 22 shoot. I know they are inexpensive but they look cool in the pics. Will it shoot bulk ammo without problems like the one post in this discussion?

I will shoot some CCI Mini Mags to break it in, then I hope it shoots bulk (except Remmington, so I hear).

Can't speak to .45, but I bought 4 boxes of Federal 9mm the other day. Son and I shot nearly all of it in my CM9 and his Glock (yeah, he's one of those) and they do fine. However when we got home and stripped both down to clean we both remarked at the level of crud. We're ususal WWB shooters. We sat last night with a couple of cold beverages and ran brushes and patches for a very long time until we deemed them both clean enough to reload and holster. While it was nice one on one time with my kid and the guns, it was markedly dirtier than our usual WWB.

YMMV but that's my story and i am sticking to it.

+1 Agree with the Tinman, functions flawlessly, but runs a bit dirty. Decent ammo for the price.

On a similar note, I was having feeding issues with an old .22 and a gunsmith recommended I stay away from the bulk type of ammo due to more typical problems.

My Marlin 60 and Ruger MK are both a little fussy about ammo, and will not work with Thunderbolts at ALL. I started buying Blazer ammo from Dicks in 500rd boxes and it eats them all day long without any failures! Before you shell out for more expensive ammo, try the Blazer - super cheap and dead reliable in both of my .22's

I have had numerous problem's with Federal in the .40 in my Beretta. Two stove pipes per mag of 10. Stopped using it because of that and have had no problems since with WWB in .40 Just saying.......IMHO.

Since ammo sometimes sits around unsold for months and I thought my Federal Champion seemed hot (split my Sig Cocobolo grip). I tried to call. Left three messages and NEVER got a call back. Won't EVER buy it again.

I have tried all 3 Federal, Winchester WWB and Remington and really cant tell much difference and have found buggered up rounds in all 3 brands of factory range ammo...

I reload and the Remington brass seems to hold up for more rounds fired than the Winchester and I stopped buying Federal .45 ACP because for some odd reason they use small pistol primers where every other brand of .45 ACP uses large primers...

Last trip to the range the guy next to me was shooting .45 and said I could have his brass as he didn't reload so I scooped it up without looking and guess what, Federal small primer brass and I had to throw it all out...

sure sitting around a few months would even have anything to do with a round getting hotter. Our military ammo is cased and stockpiled for years. I think with todays modern powders this would not be the case anymore, just my assumption. I wanna say ur sig grips were defective in some way or another.
