Sirt Trainer vs. Airsoft

I do see benefits with training with these toy guns. I may consider getting one. I'm trying to decide what I would prefer, this Sirt laser gun (pricey) or an Airsoft. Maybe even one of the blowback type of Air gun (looks more realistic). Any experienced advise on this ?

I have (for years) and will continue to use airsoft pistols for most of my SD practice and training. I've got both a Glock 26 and XDM 3.8 .45 ACP airsoft blow backs. I find it a real benefit to be able to very safely run scenarios starting from clear and draw to double tap etc. I practice outdoors with bio-degradable BBs and indoor with the cheaper BBs. You can, properly geared, practice/train force on force [I've not done this but can see some real benefits in doing so]. You don't of course get the report, recoil and same trigger feel as when doing live fire.

The SIRT also looks like a very good training device.

Thanks Bill K, that's just what I needed to hear. I'm leaning towards a green gas powered blowback. Although there is no recoil at least by the slide cycling back you'll have to recover the sight picture ( like a real gun). I think this would be a great way to teach basics and practice at home.

For non-LEO's it is about as good as it gets. Using Simunitions is probably the pinnacle of force on force training. However that is pretty much limited to LEO's. One thing about either is wear eye and facial protection. Airsoft pellets can put you eye out forever.

I train with a blowback green gas 1911 The slide does cycle as well as the mag changes include the airsoft BB's as well as a new green gas refill. This gun is the same size and weight as my 45 cal 1911. I was also surprised with the accuracy of these guns at distances under 50 feet. The recoil is similar to a .22 cal in a full size 1911. I recommend these guns as a safe way to train at home indoors. I shoot in my garage several time a week when it is to bad to be outside.

Agreed except NEVER use propane or any other flammable gas in an enclosed environment.
