Laserlyte 9mm cartridge

I just use paper targets printed on my printer. Also, I can see the laser flash when sighting correctly. Sometimes I loose it just below the sights but then that's where the bullet would have gone. I have adjusted my sight picture until it matches the laser and my range shooting has improved also.

If you have the money, they have an electronic target that remembers your shots and you can review them with a shot to the playback button.

I'd wait and get the one your originally mentioned that pulses when the trigger hit it. That universal Laserlyte is on all the time. You will be aiming the laser dot rather than the gun, which is what you don't want to do.

The one I ordered says that it has a "Sound-activated switch [that] flashes a laser dot for 100 milliseconds to simulate bullet impact". There seems to be two versions of the non-cartridge Laserlyte plus one that is really meant to be a bore sight. Does this make any sense?

I'm sorry, John, but you're wrong about that. It gives a quick pulse when you pull the trigger just like the bullet style does.

JFootin - Thanks for the heads up. I looked at them a few weeks back and must have been looking at the wrong version.

The Pro may be better for multi-calibers. I looked at it but back off because it is sound activated and even the video shows several "misfires". The cartridge model is pressure activated by the striker hitting the end of the cartridge. I find that it doesn't misfire and since I primarily train with the 9mm it is the right one for me.

My Laserlyte "Laser Trainer Pro" arrived today.

I was surprised how small it is. Overall length is just under 2 1/2". It comes with a set of batteries already loaded. All you have to do is to remove the little plastic insulator, and the batteries are operative. In addition, it comes with an extra set of three batteries and a properly sized hex wrench needed to adjust the caliber.

I just tried it out on my PM9. It works just fine without the use of snap caps recommended by the manufacturer. Sure, you get a flash or two when racking the slide, or two flashes when you sling shot it, but I wouldn't call these "misfires". They certainly didn't bother me. What was important to me was that EVERY time I pulled the trigger and was aiming precisely, a flash of light appeared very very close to the POA.

OK: good to know that a hand-installed thing like that can be that precise, but that's NOT what I bought it for. I want to use it to develop "point shooting" and "instinctive shooting" (as described in the NRA Guide). When shooting the Laserlyte without looking at the sights, I can look instead at my target and see very clearly how far off the light flash is. I bet that if I do this several hundred times, I'll be able to "hit" what I'm looking at without using the gun's sights. And, of course, it works even better for practicing in low light situations.

So net appraisal: so far so good!

Very good! I am going to get one! It'd be a fun and useful thing to do frequently here at home. In a few years, maybe I could overtake jocko in trigger pulls. I'd probably never reach 3200 going to the range, loading and shooting bullets and cleaning the gun(s) afterward. :86:

Can you see the laser pulse while using the sights? My range is outdoors and it's cold here. Would like to use this in doors to refine my grip and trigger pull. Good idea or not?

THe one I have does not pulse. Only when the firing pin hits the dummy round, does the laser flash for an instant.

Oh, yes , a very good idea. I use mine mainly for dry fire breath and trigger control.
