  • Cant or no cant?

Well... after reading all the positive reviews on the PJHolsters IWB holster, I decided to pull the trigger and get one for my CW9. Been trying to find a truly comfortable IWB holster for about 20 years now, and haven't had much luck.
Took me a while to consider a Kydex holster since I've used strictly leather for the past 30+ years, and I could never convince myself that Kydex could be comfortable. Anyway...
Now I'm torn between a canted or non-canted holster. Just wondering what the general preference was among the PJ Holster owners on the forum.

Is there any difference in comfort between the canted and non-canted versions? Is the canted version as stable on the waistband as the non-canted version?
I'm also thinking of picking up one of PJ's mag pouches while I'm at it. Does anyone own one of these? How do you like it?

Any additional suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm with you Sarge on the transition to kydex from Leather. I like leather. There is a place for kydex though.

Far as cant, that a very individual choice. What you did in leather will be much the same in kydex.

Myself I'm a straight up kind of guy but using my Silent Thunder as an example I found that giving it a little forward cant made my PM45 more comfy if I wear it a little behind the hip.

I think when I order one, I don't have one yet I might consider ordering for one size bigger belt. This would allow me a little bit of tolerance to adjust to where I'm wearing it.

Unfortunately, the only leather IWB holster I've tried with a cant was a Milt Sparks Executive Companion for a 1911. Very comfy, but then again, the holster was designed alot differently with the extra slab of leather across the bottom of the holster.
Good idea about the one size larger belt clip. Gives the holster a bit more flexibility/adjustment.

Guys, the right size belt clip will allow it to be slid forward or back without too much difficulty. And you can always pulll the clip out with your finger to make it easier to slide. I would advise against getting it too large because it will allow the holster to move up or down a bit.

Some cant is needed for wear behind the hip. It doesn't cause a problem with stability, and it aids in comfort and concealability. You can talk with Paul about how much you want. It could be 10°, or 12°. Doesn't have to be 15°.

Like I have said before, I have never seen another holster that is so comfortable carrying my CM9, I can't feel it there at all. It is so stable that the gun doesn't move or shift when I am moving around. It's like it and the gun become one with my body. Mine is the over the belt clip, BTW.
        Very interesting...

That's another reason I love my Silent Thunder, the cant is adjustable and the clip is swappable for different belt sizes, standard clip, j-hook, belt loops, etc. I don't have to get a whole new holster every time I can just get what I need, and the leather lining makes it the best of both worlds.

I have his standard cant for a CM9, it's very comfortable just behind my hip. It's good even driving and sittring in straight back chairs.
