custom bedside on the cheap

So, I really wanted a bedside rig, but I wanted something cheap that could travel easily as well. I dont travel a lot, but like the idea of tossing it in a suitcase or bag, and having the same set up wherever I go. So I started looking and found things I had lying around and went to work!

I know the idea can be improved upon, but again I was just going for cheap and easy at this point.

I started with this:


Cut the wood into three even pieces, attached them with some hinges I had, and attached the old piece of tie down around the hoslter. Used some electrical tape (out of ductape :O) to cover the exposed edge of the wood to protect the bed frame. Again just using screws and things I had lying around to avoid any cost

Ended up with this:




Folds up nicely for easy transport/storage:

I know I know.... Like I said though, at this point it was totally function and cost over form. I do like the idea enough that I may consider a nicer one of the same idea in the future. Always welcome to ideas and improvements.... besides on the ugly factor

set it on the nightstand = free.

Might not always have a night stand n I hate the stories where the bg picks the gun up off the nightstand before the person even has a chance. The main reason for making my hideous contraption is is to be able to have the gun in the same place no matter where I happen to be staying

By that logic, you may not always have a mattress/boxspring! I have never seen a hotel without a nightstand, nor will anyone ever be able to come into my room (lock the door) and pick up my piece off a nightstand, but cool. Projects are fun, useful or not.
