  • Will a OWB holster that was "made" for P9/CW9 work for a PM/CM9?

I was looking for an OWB holster for my CM9 I found one that I like (specifically the speed scabbard from Desantis) but the manufacturer only has one listed for a P9/CW9. It's an open muzzle design so I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t work with the CM9, seeing as how there’s only a half inch difference between the models . If my memory serves me correctly the CW9 and CM9 are identical in the trigger guard frame area, just the barrel and grip are shorter. I don’t have my P9 anymore to do my own comparison (I traded it in a moment of insanity). Anybody have both that can verify they are the same dimensions in that area?
    Thanks!

I don't have a P9, but I do have several holsters designed for a K9 or a CM9 and I use them interchangeably. The CM9 is a little shorter, than the K9. Open muzzle designs don't care if the gun sits back or a little long. As long as you get decent retention where it counts.

I wouldn't think that there would be a problem. I bought an open-ended Minituck for my PM9 and found that the K9 dropped in and the PM45 took only a little extra force.Even the P40 drops in, and belt tension retains all of the pistols. Of course, all but the PM45 fall out when you invert the holster while holding it, but that's no problem during wear. I think that the main problem is with closed-end holsters for shorter pistols. You would need to open up the bottom to allow for the longer pistol(s). Some have done this by heating and reforming Kydex.

I have a James Dean IWB holster for my CW9 and of course, my CM9 drops right in perfectly. Just a 1/2" shorter than the CW9.
