Looking for a new range bag

Hey,

I am thinking about picking up a new range bag, I currently only have a bulldog bag and after about eight years of use all of the zippers are busted. I had to cut off one of the side panel pockets to leave it exposed because the zipper was no longer functional. Thought I would ask here for some thoughts. I saw one of these GPS Tactical Range Backpacks at the LGS today and was real impressed by the construction and room, despite the $140 price tag. I was able to locate them online for a bit cheaper and with free shipping -- anyone here have one these? Have any other range bags that you would recommend? Looking for something with a lot of storage space but not necessarily a large bulky bag -- main concern is bag quality. Any insight is appreciated, thanks!

That's a monster sized bag there, yeseree! I travel light so my cheepy range bag does me just fine.

That's an incredibly well thought out bag if you ask me. Particularly when taking multiple guns. Never heard of that brand, gonna have to check it out. I've been running w/ a 5.11 Range Qualifier for years, its worked just fine. But I've more and more moved to just taking a single handgun at a time, maybe a rifle, and only a couple hundred rounds per session. I'd really like to have something that can double-duty as my range and travel bag. So I've been looking at the Maxpedition Saber Cat. But gonna have to give this GPS stuff a look as well.


Check out the stuff from Maxpedition though, they have a number of good choice similar to what you posted above.

I use a craftsman tool bag works good for a couple of guns.

I use an old duffle bag and it does the job, but I do need to upgrade someday. That GPS bag for $140 is very,very nice, but kind of expensive for me. I don't think I could bring myself to use a Craftsman tool bag...no insult intended. I've looked at the Midway bag too, but would like to find a good generic bag that is priced right...someday.

no problem, ruger has their range bag on sale for 34.99.

I have owned a Waller Range Bag for twenty some years and I expect it to last another twenty some years. Expensive, but not really.

Have an Uncle Mike's bag, pretty good sized and picked it up for about $45.

For regular pistol practice I use a small canvas bag about 8"x10". I use the range's ammo so no need to tote any.

For a more involved range session I use a cheap Targus laptop bag. Neither scream "gun" so I can be incognito.

This is my range bag. It's nothing special, but it works for me. Out of curiosity, I wonder if any older guys out there recognize what it actually is?

The removable insert has a zippered pocket on each (long) side, so 2 full size guns, then a pile of ammo, can of CLP, and mini cleaning kit in the middle section of the removable insert. Mag holders (6) on one side pocket of the main bag (2 Kahr mags will fit per slot), then just a general zip pocket on the other side of the main bag with a few dividers.

Less ammo of course = 1 or 2 guns will fit in the middle section of the removable insert...or your holster rig for IDPA/USPSA.

Been very happy w/ it. My only complaint are the zippers. They used smaller/finer toothed zippers rather than the big industrial ones you see on most 'tactical' gear these days. They seem to be holding up fine, just an observation.

I paid around $65 for it on Amazon at the time. Looks like its around $75 now. Not a bad bag at either of those prices IMO.

Midway USA large range bag. Outstanding for the money and is basically two bags in one. I love mine.

I picked up that exact GPS bag a few weeks ago and love it. It is very durable and worth every penny to me.
