Talon grips: rubber vs granulate???

What do you prefer? And what do you have on your carry piece?

Ive only had rubber Talon Grips on my old CW45. I liked them and it was actually pretty easy to install. But I was always curious about the granulate grip tape. I think I would much prefer it to the rubber while its in my hand. My only concern is with concealing it. Does anyone here pocket or IWB carry with granulate grips?I'm thinking about placing an order soon for my CW380 and can't decide. I think the granulated would help out a lot more due to the fact I can only get two fingers on the grip.

I had granulate on my Glock 26 which I preferred over the rubber Talon I had for awhile on my PM9. I now have a Pachmayr tactical grip on my PM9 which I much prefer over the Talon. I generally do like Talon grips, with a preference now for granulate, but not for smaller grip guns like my PM9 and P3AT which both now sport a Pachmayr tactical - love what the palm swell does for the smaller grip.

Ive never used the Pachmayr grips before, they kinda remind me of hogue grips. But Pachmayr don't even make them for the P/CW380.

First grip sleeve I ever bought was a Hogue for my P3AT. It would slip and slide and so was swapped out for a bicycle tube tire grip which worked much better (see pic below) but not as good as the Pachmayr tactical grip which are now on both my P3AT and PM9. The Pachmayr Tactical grip has palm swells which for me results in a more comfortable and secure grip on the P3AT and PM9.

Consider contacting Pachmayr to see if an existing grip will work for your Kahr .380. If not ask if they have plans for Kahr .380 tactical grips. http://www.pachmayr.com/home/contact/

How is the texture on the tactical grip? I'm not a huge fan of soft, squashy grips.

I have Talons on my Glocks, but they don't seem to hold up well on other brands. I guess it depends on how they wrap. They eventually peel. If you intend to carry in the waistband go with the rubber texture. I now use Hogue Handall Jrs on my PM9/CM9. They work just fine.

Ah, then probably not for you. I think you'd be okay with the feel on the front and back straps but the you'd likely find the palm swells "squashy". I like the palm swells because they are what for me makes it feel like I'm holding a gun with a bigger grip; but I can readily understand how they would be a negative for another shooter.

I pocket carried with 3M grip tape on the sides and frontstrap of a pistol for about a year. It ate a hole in my pockets. It will also eat a hole on your side if you carry iwb. I love the feel and function but I spend more time carrying that shooting so... Right now on my cm9 I have a single piece of grip tape cut to match the right side grip panel only.

I've had no problems with Talon's grips peeling. Follow the instructions and you should be fine. I had their granulate grip on an XDm. I finally took it off only because it looked pretty "tatty" after couple years use. I still have the rubber ones on my XD-S.

I haven't had a problem with the talon grips peeling on my CW45. I only had it for a year though before I sold it. My brother still owns the gun and last time I seen it, it was holding up just fine.

I have only used the rubber Talons on my CW45 and 40 but I'm going with the granular for my CW380. Glad I read this post I have to go order them now! BTW I have had the rubber ones for several years on each of my Kahrs and have never had them peel off. I always make sure I use an extra alcohol wipe to clean any area the grip will touch and I also use a hair dryer on hot heat to help soften and mold the grip to the polymer.

I liked the Talon grips on my CW380 but I went through a few as even a bit of solvent on them and they are ruined; tough to do when you clean your gun after each range visit.

I am now considering some type of rubber sleeve that I can take on and off when cleaning.

I use the Pachmayr's on my MK, but I do like the grip tape on my H&K.................never had a problem with solvent.............

The problem with slip-on grips is just that, they slip. Over time they stretch and can move around and I don't care who makes them. In my opinion they do not belong on a duty gun.

Update- LOVE the granulated on my CW380 BUT I am going to change to the rubber on it because the granulated acts as Velcro when my shirt touches it when I carry 0WB.
