  • Sig Holster Modification- Need Advice

I recently purchased a new SIG SP2022, which came with the holster pictured below. It is a very nice paddle holster, very high-quality molded polymer/plastic. It is, however, a generic SIG holster and is about 1.5 inches longer than the muzzle of the gun. I want to cut off about 1.5" off the length. I am admittedly mechanically challenged, and I don't have much in the way of power tools. I would like to know the best way/best tool to use to accomplish this, and leave a nice finished-looking edge, maybe with some sanding or filing.

Any advice from those more mechanically/tool-proficient than me would be appreciated.

I would use a hack saw, take my time and then deburr with a utility knife, followed by sand paper.

Hacksaws can be a little tricky to keep straight. But I agree it's probably the best hand tool for the job. Cut it a little long and then true it up with some sandpaper on a block of wood. It will take longer but probably yield a better result. Then de-burr with knife followed by very fine sandpaper afterwards (as kenemoore advised).

      Good luck.

Know anyone with a belt sander?

I've cut at least a dozen of those for Glocks. I used a bandsaw. A hacksaw or a coping saw would work.
If you go the hand route, do as mentioned and cut just a tad long so you can dress it up with a file and sandpaper.
