  • Best Single Clip, Minimalist, Cheap-O IWB

I really got my PM9 for pocket carry...will usually go with my bigger and heavier XD40 subcompact for anything else. But I wouldn't mind a very minimalist, single clip IWB for wearing tucked in polos.

Since the Kahr is really light and small, I feel it's overkill for a full two clip IWB rig with backing, and would like a suggestion for a cheap, single clip that is really as small as possible. I like this DeSantis but don't even want the extra fabric of the spare mag holder:

I like the look of the Galco but it seems to sit really high, which I don't want, as I think it would print a lot more on thin polo shirts.

And I've heard bad things about Klydex, such as the wear marks it leaves on your gun after awhile, and just imagine that the hard material would leave all sorts of printing bumps under my shirt and would be much more noticeable than something soft?

I've also heard bad thinks about the types of clips that tuck under the belt and grab it from below. People have posted that these put too much weight on the waistline of pants, making them more noticeable and less stable.

Another forum had a 5 page thread extolling the virtues of the Remora clip less, and I'll be looking into buying one of those as soon as I can get to a retailer.

    The holster is sold here

Biggie, that was an eye opening post! Thank you! I am VERY interested in the Remora...seems almost too good to be true. You can find thread after thread on all sorts of gun sites singing its praises. I emailed the owner to ask which model the PM9 fits. Did this late last night and this morning first thing, I had his response in my inbox. Sounds interesting.

Here's what the owner, Alan Bogdan emailed me:

"For the PM9, you would need the #4. The #4A is if you have any accessories on the gun like a laser. Pics should be up for the S.S (sweat shield version) this coming week. The original holster covers most of the gun, only exposing the body to the rear sites up and the grip. The sweat shield is an additional tab that will cover these as well and is series #4 S.S. It is not in our store or cart as of now, but it should be on the store by next week.

The sweat shield verison is not ambidextrous so don't forget draw side, firearm make and model and sweat shield in your order. The base price of the holster is $24.95. The sweat shield addition is $5.00 for a total of $29.95, plus a fixed rate on shipping of $4.95. $34.90."

            (not my pics!)

              Thanks Riccardo,
I'm running out of excuses for not ordering one.
I like that re-enforced top on that other model too.

I have a kholster now that fits both the CW9/PM9 but is a lot of holster for iddy-biddy guns and a pain getting on and off.

That linked thread showed a pocket holster with a clip added that looked workable too.
I'm trying not to end up with a closet full of holsters...again.

              Thanks again,
              Tilos

Hey Tilos...Just found an even cheaper resource for the Remora. It's free shipping on Ebay from seller gotstuff_net. He is an 'authorized' reseller for Remora and his free shipping deal is only supposed to last a short time longer. I'm getting mine now:

Remora Series 4 "No Clip" IWB Concealment Holster - eBay (item 270643964241 end time Dec-01-10 15:04:40 PST)

Thanks for pulling the trigger and buying one.
Be sure to get back here and tell us how it works out.

How does it stay on your waist with no clip?

Don't know yet! Just put in my order and I will unfortunately be traveling when it arrives. Hopefully I'll have a report before Thanksgiving.

Here's a horror story I heard. Someone I know has one but stopped using it. Why, you ask? Well he carried it at the small of his back for a few days. He and his wife went to an Indian casino and he has to go to the bathroom. Well he steps up the the row of urinals which is packed and unzips, forgetting about the pistol at his back. As soon as the waistband pressure is released, it falls out and bangs loudly against the ground. The bathroom is filled with the typical low lives and seniors you see at casinos, and everyone is staring.

My friend grabs his gun and some of the other guys are looking scared. He grabs his wife at the slot machine and pulls her out of the casino. As they are driving out of the parking structure with his wife still thinking he is overreacting, 6 tribal police cars are screaming up to the front of the building with sirens blazing.

He goes home paranoid that they picked him up on facial recognition cameras or more likely, by pairing him with his wife and the players card she had stuck into her slot machine. But luckily nothing happened. He calls and finds out that the tribe has a very strict LAW...yes, they make their own laws, enforced federally, against firearms. So he feels he dodged a major bullet.

I absolutely LOVE my Don Hume for IWB, so much so I bought another for my M&P .40. Not mine^^^ but is the same color (love it), Also it stays open with no gun so it allows for re-holstering. As far as that other holster, I have heard even worse things about Nylon holsters wearing down finishes even faster than Kydex. Nothing but leather for my guns.

I just received my Remora this weekend, and I really like it. I have it covered with a tucked in t-shirt, and it's virtually invisible and not moving anywhere. It was a little tricky to get a shirt tucked in over it and have it stay in place, but with practice that will work out too.

Well after two days of trying to wear the Remora with a shirt tucked over it, I've come to the conclusion that this is not the best method to wear this holster.

I've managed to keep the shirt tucked in, but I think that when my outer shirt wants to ride up it pulls the holster with it. If I keep the holster tucked into the waistband, outside of all shirts, it works just like they say it does.
