IWB or AIWB for CM9

I posted this in my first message in the PM and CM forum and thought I would post the following part here as well since it seemed to be a more appropriate place.

Currently, I am looking for a tuckable, concealed carry holster and am welcome to suggestions. I wear a sport coat and dress slacks during the week, with the shirt tucked in, so I am looking for something tuckable. I am NOT interested in a shoulder rig though. I am up and down all day, so I don't know if appendix carry or on my hip around 4 - 5 o'clock would be better.

I have looked at the Silent Thunder as it appears to be something that I could try both on my hip and appendix style.

I have also considered the Crossbreed SuperTuck, White Hat's Max Tuck as well as offerings by Comp Tac and Old Faithful but am not sure a hybrid is really what I want.

There are some beautiful all leather offerings out there from Tucker and others and while I may ultimately end of with one of their offerings, it looks like I would need to plan 4 - 6 months in advance for anything from them.

Avenger, I know you saw my post on the other thread about the PJHolster IWB. You can also get that tuckable. Just don't get the J-hook. Get the same clip as mine, except tuckable. Just $40 shipped. Best $40 you'll ever spend. You'll absolutely LOVE that holster!

Silent Thunder or SmartCarry.

I use both you can't go wrong. The leather lined Silent Thunder is phenomenal and made to last.

You simply cannot buy a better tuckable than the SmartCarry.

Yeah, the Silent Thunder is a good holster, but heavier and thicker, and more than twice as expensive as the PJ. I tried one and sent it back because the sweat shield dug into my love handle and got very uncomfortable in less than an hour. Ron and Sheryl were real nice and quick with a refund.

I have a SmartCarry. Great idea, carrying way down there where no one's supposed to be looking. TOTALLY concealed carry. A challenge to draw from unless your belt is pretty loose. It helps to have a thin waist, too. Me, I have middle aged spread. So, I discard the belt and wear some good suspenders with my loose fitting jeans. Pretty easy to draw that way.

I had dismissed PJHolsters because I couldn't find anything on the site to lead me to believe that they were tuckable. I saw the IWB, but haven't seen any tuckable ones there. I must not be looking in the right place.

Any 'tuckable' holster is only such by definition. Yes, you can 'tuck' some shirt into them but I wouldn't consider it suitable for all day wear or a decent car ride. If you like your shirts clean tucked and not 'blowsed' you'll be disappointed.

That's the beauty of the SmartCarry.

It is very hard to find a picture of a tuckable on his site. But if you look on the IWB page, you'll see that he prices both the same: $40 (shipped). Send Coach Paul an email and ask him to send you a picture of the tuckable with the over-the-belt clip. He attaches it to the holster as a separate piece, attached near the muzzle end with a slot in between to tuck your shirt in.

I may be in for a long look then as I do want something that I can wear all day with a shirt tucked in around it.

I would think that with the exception of wearing tight fitting, athletic cut types of shirts, I would be okay as I am not worried about a little blousing.

I may ultimately have to go with something like a Smart Carry or 3 Speed Holster, but I am going to explore my options for a tuckable holster first.

I guess you take your jacket off during your work day? Otherwise the belt slide would be my choice, it tucks the PM9 in very close to the body.

You might consider an OWB for the road and to and from etc and an ankle holster for when you take your jacket off.

Ankle rig while not fast keeps it with you when you can't dress for it otherwise. Works well when your not supposed to have a gun due to company rules or guidelines. Been working for me everyday for 13 years now.

We do now have an on site court hearing once a month that so far I've been able to avoid. They wand everyone, not sure if I get the wand since I work here, would have to recon that a little.

Them glocks are suppose to go through a metal detector right?

Surprisingly, it stays on most of the time. I am up and down so frequently that it doesn't make sense to remove it. That, and the fact that I have gotten somewhat use to wearing it.

Now, I will admit that it does occasionally come off. But those times that it does a few and far between. I would estimate that it happens, on average, less than once a month.

I am concerned about a belt slide however because even though my coat stays on, I always try to walk at a brisk pace and the tails fan out. I guess I could always button the coat from now on, but I haven't really ever done that to this point and don't really want to start that.

I am probably making this much harder than I need to, but I appreciate your suggestion.

For what it's worth, this is the exact reason I went with a SmartCarry. I'm sure there are other options, but for me - around the office is a deep conceal priority and very low risk situation. There is no worry about any part of my firearm ever showing and I don't have to dress around it.

And most importantly, you can still stand up to pee.

The Silent Thunder is tuckable with a little blousing. It's so thin with the PM/CM9 that it looks pretty good. The shirt tail goes behind the belt clip which holds it in place. Of course if you bend way over the other side or other action that would pull your shirt out without a holster it will pull out but easily tucked back in as you would your shirt tail.
