first kahr

just purchased the cw9 today. i reload for all my pistols and will shoot the pistol for the first time at the range Wednesday.


i was just wondering if anyone else reloads for their kahr cw9?


if anyone is interested, my intended load will be 4.4 grains of bullseye, with a 115 grain fmj bullet and an oal of 1.140. this load should replicate factory range ammo velocity. it's worked in all of my 9mm pistols.


anyway, glad to be here. i intend to shoot the kahr a lot(benefits of reloading) and hope the little kahr will hold up!

Your not gonna wear it out. I don't reload 9 but I do 45 and some others.

I don't reload myself, but most of my 9mm I shoot are reloads I buy from a friend. They work perfectly fine in all 3 of my Kahrs. Welcome to Kahrs & the forum ... I'm sure you'll like both.

I don't do reloads myself but get a lot from my brother who has been doing so for 40+ years. I don't however shoot any reloads through my PM9 because of the barrel. I'd have no qualms about shooting my brothers reloads through a CW9.

I also don't reload; but I have shot reloads through my CW9 with no problem. You'll love that pistol. It's a dandy.

I never had a problem with my reloads when I reloaded, but consistency can suck with some reloaders and I would advise using new, quality factory ammo to break in your new pistol so that you're testing the pistol with conventional factory ammo and not testing the pistol AND the ammo at the same time.

My favorite load is 6.0 gr. of power pistol behind a 124 gr bullet using CCI 500 primers. That's .4 gr below max for power pistol, but it seems to get the job done.

thanks for the welcome...no worries here about reloading for the kahr. I've reloaded for years and countless rounds and can count the duds on less than one hand, and that was mainly with a ruger revolver that was prone to light strikes. if I can get it to plunk in the chamber with the right charge it will fire everytime. I wish I can say that about the thousands of factory plinking rounds I spent money on before I learned to reload. I do draw the line with defense loads and use strictly factory ammo. anyway, great forum, and I can't wait to try the kahr out either tomorrow or Wednesday.

update...shot the kahr today for the first time using my reloads. fired 100 rounds of 4.2 bullseye. the cw9 performed flawlessly. I liked the pistol so much I'm tempted to go out and buy another one just for backup. or save a few extra ducats and get the k-9. I also fired one box of spear gold dot without a hitch. the kahr is a keeper. I wanted a reliable single stack pistol and the kahr fits the bill perfectly. I figured if the kahr didn't work I could always look for a used sig p-6 or even the sig 239...but if the kahr holds up I can see me adding a few more to the collection. p.s. if anyone is interested in the load, it's 4.2 grains bullseye, cci primers, 115 grain zero fmj, 1.140 oal, .376 crimp, with range brass. the cw9 ate it up...low recoil and very accurate.

Glad the Bullseye/Zero 115gr is working out well. I have good accuracy using a 115gr. plated HP from Rocky Mountain Reloading and SR7625 (close to minimum load) in both my CM9 and my SCCY. When I substitute a Berry's 115gr. plated RN the accuracy suffers a lot. I'll have to give Zero a try one of these days - when I can get my hands on some Bullseye. There's been a shortage of pistol power around here lately.

I broke in my PM9 and PM45 using my hand loads. PM9 eats Berry's 124 HBRN TP, 4.3 Titegroup or 4.8 WST, CCI at 1.150 COAL. Great accuracy out of both. The Titegroup has more punch were the WST is soft.

Welcome to the forum from another new guy. I bought my first Kahr a couple weeks ago it is a CW45. I have only shot about 450 of my reloads through it so far and the only 4 FTF happened when I tried to use an old 1911 mag. When I used the factory mag it worked perfectly. My loads are 200 gr. cast lead with 4.7 gr. WW231 with no leading .
