Cool! As we get older, we tend to repeat ourselves . . . sorry!

That's OK. At my age it's always better to tell me things twice.

Just think twice about using any magazine that has a follower without a front skirt. Those two leading edges can ding your feed ramp, especially in guns with alloy frames.

So are you saying the colt mags have no skirt on the follower?

Did the picture from their catalog listing show up correctly in the message? If so, you can see the portion of the follower that digs into the ramp pretty clearly. I think they call that a Devel follower as explained in this PistolSmith dot com post: http://pistolsmith.com/pistolsmiths/...ower-prob.html

I can't really see the follower well enough in that picture to know for sure what you're pointing out. I'll check the link you posted

Tucson is right on cheaper mags. Ones from the better makers have the proper clearances, but if the QC isn't there, they can be poor. I have been known to stomp bad mags flat at the range to keep them from screwing up the gun. Colt, Kimber, Mec Gar, Wilson all have good mags.

The stock Kimber mag, I received, was not very good. The follower had no skirt and because of that, the follower would hang up on the mag tube when trying to load the first round. I replaced it with the higher quality Kimpro TacMag and life is grand. Bud's has the Kimpro TacMags on sale for $17 or $18. Usually run upward of $24.
                    Notables:
Kimber Custom II 1911 .45 ACP ("How sweet it is")
Kahr CM9 9mm - Trijicon night sights, Wolff 5# striker spring
Glock 19 Gen 3 9mm - Meprolight night sights, BTGuiderod stainless steel captured guide rod, Ghost Ranger trigger connector, Vickers mag release
Taurus 85 Stainless Steel .38 Special
                    1977 Smith & Wesson 19-4 2.5" .357 Magnum - Wolff springs, Professional trigger job
                    1955 Hi-Standard Sentinel R-100 .22lr
                    1958 Marlin Golden 39-A Mountie .22lr
                    Norinco SKS 7.62x39

+1 on the KimberŪ KimPro Tac-MagŪ and that is a great price! I like them because, without the optional bumpers, they fit flush in my CBOB and they do work very well. Their removable base plate is a plus if you decide to rebuild them with Tripp Research compound follower kits (or Wilson kits) in the future.

Yes, I got the TacMag on your recommendation. I was going to get the Wilson Combat mag. But you explained about the flush fit and were 100% correct.

I put the first 100 rounds thru my R1 that was purchased on 26 may and I didn't have one problem. Fine gun for the money and a straight shooter.
