  • Didn't know they came in a wide spur, might have to check that out.

    • I don't think they did come with a wide spur but that don't mean it can't happen.

Greg put one on his Colt, which inspired me to put one on my Remington. I used a Auto Ordnance hammer on mine and it worked perfectly.

I don't recall which hammer Greg used but a search might find that thread.
Greg's real sharp on this stuff, when I grow up I wanna be just like him.

      • My older 1991 is back in this thread, but I picked up this Combat Elite last spring, added a few parts and have been really enjoying it.

A couple Colts, a couple Brownings, a Makarov, a Sig, a couple Rugers, a couple Kahrs, a couple Smith & Wessons, a Walther, and a couple Berettas .....Oh, and some long guns...

        • That sings! I need a Colt in my toy box. I have a 42 GI but while I shoot it from time to time and it functions perfectly I just don't want to carry it and risk anything to do with losing it.

Same with the rest for that matter but more so that one.

I did the same to my Remington and really love it. I was never opposed to the Whale Tail but it's just fine without it too. Does that make me Bi-Whaletail.
I like a whaletail... but only on hot girls
I much prefer having a beavertail on my 1911's. I didn't realize how much more I liked them till I got my Sig.

So when I recently did a few upgrades to my old Para P12 lightweight. I added a Wilson drop-in beavertail. It fit right in and what a huge improvement in feel and pointability.
Also added some new grips, wolff extra power recoil, and mag springs, and a steel mag release.
Now my lil'45 powerhouse is back in the carry rotation.

The Wilson Beavertail drop-in fits perfectly. Looks like factory.....nice sweet pistol. I did the whole thing with my R1...trigger, beavertail, hammer, grips (finger and panels), hammer spring, 3 1/2 lb trigger job, recoil spring, Wilson 8-round mags etc...etc. It's mostly all I shoot anymore. It's loose, smooth, and plenty accurate for me.

                    • "custom" Sig Nightmare

I finally got around to "customizing" my Sig 1911. It's funny how little things bug you but I just didn't like that silver thumb safety and slide lever. So I replaced them. I like the rest of the silver bits...I know...weird, huh? Oh and I use Wilson Combat mags now too.

First pic is before (I just wish I had some of the sunshine y'all have to make the pics look better)

                          • Thanks Deacon. One of the best things I did was quit using the Sig mags with the silly bumpers. Really defeats having the grip bobbed.
