Used 2002 K9 - SLIDE MARKINGS?

not really a big deal IMO ur is an02 mine an 04, there could be a difference. Just not sure back then what they did and didn't do..

Yea either way it doesnt really matter, I was just wondering if it had anything to do with it being department issued or something like that. I might see if Kahr can give me some insight and maybe a closer born on date, Im guessing from the serial# list its a 2002, being AR55xx, its somewhere around 2002. Cheers.

I just received a reply from Jay at Kahr. My K9 was made March 2002, and he said it most likely has the NYPD trigger.

Jay said "As for the underside of the slide, the dimples are simply machined marks denoting inspection (this was common for slides at this time)."

Im a little surprised he also said he doesnt have any info as to what the 'C' means, kinda weird.

but according to kahr FAQ the dimple is ther eto designate what kind of dovetail u have in your gun. No dimple,= old style dovetil. dimple,= new stuyle dovetail. this was basically for the K9's and not the rest of the kahr line as the K9 was their first gun made. It wold be interested to see one of the carbon steel slides under belley to see if it has any dimples, as I think most of those could have been produced with the dovetails were indeed different..

The dimples dont match the polymer guns, maybe a new K9 would have the same markings as the poly guns made today?

That's how I read the info too. Matches what I've seen.

Other models were produced with the old style dovetail. My early P9, introduced in 2000, has no dimple. The T9 also spanned the two styles. I'm not sure what other models may also have the old dovetail cut and thus marked with a dimple.

No dimple on the oldest K9s, whether carbon steel or stainless. E9s may be old enough too. These two models may be the only ones with carbon steel slides I think. Two of my Kahr were made with the old style, the other six had the new sight cut.

I swear my sights are the old dovetail with the sharper angle and still have the original two dot sights.

To check, simply hold the K9 and CW9 "sight to sight" and look whether one cut is wider than the other. There is a noticable difference in the width of the cut, about 1/10" or so.
