  • Used 2002 K9 - SLIDE MARKINGS?

Hey everybody. I just picked up my new(used, very used) K9 yesterday. It was a police trade in, dont think its a NYPD trigger though and judging from the serial# its made around 2002. I have a question about markings on the underside of the slide.
I have two machined dimples followed by a stamped "C". Im aware of the dimples on the early and late polymer guns, but this is the first time Ive seen this. Anyone know what these mean? It just seems kinda weird they must mean something. Thanks.

The dimple means the slide takes the new style sights. The dovetail cuts were changed and models that span the change are so marked.

I don't know what the "C" means. I recall someone else having one of these with a C.

Unless it's marked on the slide as an elite model, chances are it has a NYPD trigger, which was the standard trigger from 1995 on.
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

Thanks for your reply Ripley. This photo shows cw9 (top) and k9(bottom). CW has new dovetails shown by the dimples. The K9 has old style dovetail cut with dimples in different locations.

I also noticed when taking that photo the K9s feed ramp is noticeably bigger than on the cw, never heard that before either.

dimples on the botto of the slide indicate new style slides. whether one two or 3 diples.

I am knda thinkin the "c" is just some proof mark. If the gun had a U on the trigger housing, then ur talking about a refurbished kahr with 1 year warranty, but o the slide,I don'
t thinki that holds true at all.

I would bet it has a NYPD trigger, which is no big deal either. I love my nypd used cop gun. shoots better than I can do, in the right hands..Just sayin.

That K9 is old style. If the dimple is not at the rear of the slide, it is old style.

MLESa7990 is correct. Its an old style gun with old dovetails, do all of them have two dimples and a 'C'? Thanks.

The K9s trigger, although broken in alot more than my CW, feels 99% the same. I can dryfire both in each hand and break the triggers exactly the same time, even switching hands over and over. I dont Have a pull gauge but they seem the same to me.

The photo shows very little wear. Looks like you lucked into a nice deal. It's possible the previous owner had the elite trigger installed. My second K9 started life with a standard trigger and now sports a very smooth elite trigger. Enjoy your new Kahr.

The store I got it from had a bunch on hand and have been advertising them for a while as 'LEO trade ins'. Supposedly they all came from the same place, but no one knew exactly where, city/state/etc. The one they had for show in the case had crap all over the side of the frame, I asked the guy to find one that was in better cosmetic shape (I assumed they all had a similar round count), he came back with another one and I took it. Just got there new advertisement in the paper and the Kahrs arent there anymore, @$450 they probablly sold em all.

As for wear, there's one or two suspect 'spots' in the barrel that wont clean out, might be pits I cant tell, not really enough to worry me though. I noticed the extractor has a little wiggle to it and think I read others have had that issue and Kahr installed a new extractor for them. I'll need to look into that. Cheers.

if the gun function perfect, my opinion is leave well enough alone. That extractor thing IMO is nuttin, some are loose some are not. That extractor is not gonna wear out. Proabably one of the heartest extractor I have ever seen on a gun. u bought it at a super price.most leo kahrs have few round sthrough them, as they were off duty carry and most just show negleced care but certainly not for shootin um. Ur not gonna shoot out a kahr. 100 rounds 10,000 rounds it will look the same..

I believe you, if the loose extractor is a usual thing then I'm not going to worry about it.
The mag well is smoothed off to one side, looks the the mag was inserted a million times :-)

tell u is my used NYPD K9 looks exaactly like the one in the bottom of that photo. diples is in the same place and has the "c" on it also and it has the new style dovetails. asit has the MMC rear adjustable sight on it. I won't swear bu it but if there is a dimple on the bottom of the slide anywhere it sholdbe the new style dovetail... My K9 was born in early of 04

I swear my sights are the old dovetail with the sharper angle and still have the original two dot sights. Thats weird, our slide markings are the same but we have different dovetails.

I think everyone likes gun porn so here is my newly paired brace of Kahrs.
