I have factory night sights on most of my Kahrs. I like the 3-dot sights. I DON"T like the shallow vee rear sight that comes with the "Big Dot" XS night sights. That might pass for quick point shooting, but you can't really get any kind of fine aim with the shallow vee.
I'm hoping that Trijicon will eventually make their HD... Hard Duty night sights for Kahrs. I would love to put them on my P40... MY only defense pistol without night sights. I got the yellow HD NS on my XD45 and I love them. They work great night and days and if you want a huge bright dot, the front sight can be "charged" with a TAC light in a few seconds and then it rivals the XS Big Dots. The rear sight has a larger aperture that helps us older guys with less eagle-eye vision acquire and aim at the target quickly.
Whatever your preference, night sights can give you a possible edge in dim light or at night. You CAN aim with them. Green night sights will lose half their brightness in 12 years, so watch out for sights that have been sitting on the shelf for many years. The orange NS are good for less than half the green's expected useful life.
I may never NEED the NS, but I think it's worthwhile to have them if I DO!
