I use Super Lube on all rails of all handguns, and Royal Purple Synthetic ATF as lubricant for all else. Ballistol as a cleaner.
Is it the best? Does it work for me? You betcha. Your mileage may very.
My dad used automotive cleaners and lubes for all his firearms, they still look and work fine.
I think almost any lube will work with a good cleaning and lube on a frequent basis.

My PM9 doesn't need a lot of lube, you just have to apply it at the right contact points. I clean with Rand CLP, then put light touches of Pro Shot Pro-Gold gun grease on the edges of the frame rail lugs, followed by a drop of Rand CLP on each of those spots as well and a drop run down each slide groove. Then reassemble. Smooth .....

All that is necessary to properly lubricate a pistol is a microscopically thin film of oil. Anything more than that is wasted oil. Oil and grease attract dust and dirt and that is what wears out a mechanism. Oil is also hydroscopic. For those of you who didn't pay attention in class that means that it absorbs moisture from the air. That's why a well oiled gun can still rust over time. Lubricate your guns with a light machine oil and wipe off all of the excess. Clean and lube them after every use and they will last you two or three lifetimes. Your gun will still function in the coldest of temperatures and you won'y have to worry about it becoming gummed up. That settles it then. Maiden oil wins, hands down.

i start with very small amount of TW25B Extreme Performance Synthetic Grease on the rails, (it applies with a syringe) but rarely re-grease - maybe once in 15 times after an especially thorough cleaning. I'm really light on lubing because someone once told me what muggsy said about dirt, etc. I don't use oil, but after each use, I wipe with Birchwood Casey Barricide. It cleans and protects from rust, and provides a little residual lube. Approximately every other time I also wipe with Ballistol to keep everything slippery and for more protection. Usually that's all. It may not be right, but I've had pretty good luck.
            Rest in peace Muggsy

not sure u can beat TW25. Great stuff, alittle goes a long way, it won't run either, if it dries ouyt, I have not seen it yet on my kahrs..Buy it in the syringe applicator, and u can run a fine line of TW25 right down inside the slide rail, with zero mess.

I grabbed a couple of these plastic applicator bottles from bass pro shop, they were found in the fly fishing section. They're empty 1oz bottles with cap that has a 2" long fine needle applicator on it and it works great for applying a drop of rem oil right where i need it on my pistols.
