I think Greg is onto something here. Make sure you show Kahr that picture of your frame. I don't think the area that Greg shaded red should be there either. Here is a picture of my MK9 frame. It has a ledge there but not Greg's red area. The second picture is of my K40 which has no lip/ledge at all. I hope they help.

MK40 Recoil Spring Assembly Peened Over

Thanks for the picture b4uqzme that does help assuming the MK40 and MK9's are the same. Mine has the extra ridge that the recoil assembly must be hitting and peening over the edge. I should be able to call Kahr tomorrow. I will probably need to send the gun in to them if that extra ridge is not supposed to be there. It looks like they have a 5 year warranty so it should be covered.Originally posted by b4uqzme View PostI think Greg is onto something here. Make sure you show Kahr that picture of your frame. I did a search and found http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.p...ht=sending+gun in case I have to send it in.

Thanks Firewire. That does look different than mine with only one ridge. I will be calling Kahr on Monday. I would be curious if the MK40 is supposed to look like yours or mine.Originally posted by Firewire View PostHere is a pic of my MK9, I literally just changed the factory plastic captured guide rod to the Wolff and haven't shot it yet with the new setup, but the factory one clearly was pinging.

They left me a voicemail to send the pictures to service@kahr.com. I sent them in and got an email today. I tried calling the person who sent me the email and left them a voice-mail. I would expect to hear from them tomorrow.

I did get a reply and I called them and left a message. They did call me back after the second time calling and leaving a message. I asked about them giving me a return label and they said that they would not. I am surprised that they would not provide shipping back to the factory on what looks like a machining defect. I checked in to FedEx and it is almost $65. I am not too happy about the cost. I am checking with an FFL dealer to see if they can ship it for me a little cheaper.

Mine is a "GCxxxxx" frame in case they ask (from my pics).

I had asked the Kahr employee at least 3 times if they would provide me with a pre-paid shipping label. He said that is not their procedure. I asked even if it is a manufacturing defect and he said nothing. I am not one to keep badgering, I asked 3 times which I thought was enough. I dropped it off at a local FFL today for them to ship it USPS. Sure makes me rethink my Kahr purchase, if I would have known this I probably would not have purchased a Kahr.
I'll see how it comes back and what they end of doing to it. I also mentioned the rust on the front of the handgrip. These guns sure do rust easy for stainless. I know stainless it no guarantee for not rusting but my non-stainless guns don't rust. Is there a special oil anyone uses that helps prevent rust? So far I have used CorrosionX, Eezox and Slip 2000 EWL.
Thanks for everyone's comments. I will keep this post updated once I get more info.

It sucks to see your troubles, I've never had to return a gun to a manufacturer before. As for the rust, I've never had rust on any gun I've bought new (used yes). I've used the same products you have with good luck ( never tried eezox though).Originally posted by byrddogwi View PostI also mentioned the rust on the front of the handgrip. This link rates corrisionX very well on rust prevention. http://www.dayattherange.com/?page_id=3667
