  • Talk Me Into It

I've wanted to trade in my P3At for a P380 ever since I fell in love with my Kahr CM9. The problem is that I just can't bring myself to spend more on a .380 than I did for the 9MM. I twisted the arm of the owner of my LGS and he offered me the P380 for $517.99 plus tax for a total of $558.35. Do you think that I can do better, or should I take the plunge?

    PM sent
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Muggsy, go for it son, you will love this little pistol. There is no comparison to your Keltec....the P380 is in another class all togeher. Thats not a bad price at all...they are asking about $ 550 around these parts {list} and that before tax in Florida. If I took the drive to the east coast there is a dealer who sells them for right at the negotiated price your dealer is offering you and they are far and away the cheapest dealer of Kahrs in the state of Florida.

I say go for it. I'm going to do the same when I get the funds in place. Love the CM9, but I know this summer there are going to be times when only the little pocket 380 will work.

By the way, I went to my LGS and asked him if he could get one. He told me up around $700. I told him around $520 would be the only way I'd be interested. He kind of shut up and started pretending like I wasn't even there. That's a good price.
I've lost my memory, and I can't remember where I put it.

What's your life (or the life of those you love) worth?

Keltec vs. Kahr??? Come on man, not even close. I have owned both, no contest.

I sold my kel-tec PF9 to a guy and felt bad for doing so. It shot reliably, but man, what a rattle trap piece of claptrap all over the target piece of crap. Barely even a firearm. I've seriously owned hi-points that were better guns.

If you're a cop or military you can get a new one for about $480 total price including transfer/fees at Buds Police Supply

Dang, Muggsy, you have high taxes up there, but that sounds like a terrific deal. I love my little P380 and I carry it the most... around the house... and once in a while for trips to the doctors or a quick trip to the local store for lottery tickets.

I let my wife try handling mine a few days ago... no bullets... just to see if she could work the slide. At first she complained it was too hard, but decided the size was nice... with the 7-round extended grip magazine in it. I really don't want to buy her one of those for an emergency gun for the trunk of her car, though. I'm hoping that I can find a CW9 and see how it compares to my other Kahrs as far as the slide being hard for her to rack. I could try lightening the recoil spring and putting a 5-lb striker spring in it.

I'm going to see if I can get her to get a CCW license, too,. She seems amenable to that. We've talked quite a bit about WTSHTF and lately TEOTWAWKI and knows that self-defense will be more important in crises.

After the P380 was first released, I ordered mine three years ago with night sights and had to wait for 11 months to get it, but I got the original price before they went up over $60. I paid about $590 for mine, including shipping.

I know what WTSHTF means, but what does TEOTWAWKI mean?
                    Very interesting...

The End Of The World As We Know It... TEOTWAWKI. This abbreviation is used a lot, as is some version of SHTF or WTSHTF. Get with the program... you have that super search engine thingy in front of you!

                        I wouldn't trade my carry Kel-Tec P3AT for a dozen Kahr P380s.

That's a safe assertion. That would be the only reason for me to BUY a P3AT. I like the model name though... kind of "cute".

Sales tax is 8%. That one of the reasons that I didn't care for 9-9-9. For me it would have been 9-9-9-8 and that's 35 %. I was going to get the P380 originally, but couldn't pass up more for less with the CM9.

I'm not a cop but was in the military about 40 years ago. I don't think that my six years of active duty count for much now.
