cw45 feeding issues

I have a cw 45 with about 200 rounds through it, I had one fail to fire as the only malfuntion until today at my buddies house.
The slide repeatedly did not close all the way, it would be about 1/short of where it should be, It did seem to happen on the sewcond or third round in the magazine, but both (factory 6 rnds)magazines I have acted the same. One thing I did notice is that whan loading these mags the shells and follower like to tilt and the top round seems to mot be at quite the same angle as the ones under it. I am wondering if loading them with a speed loader would help keep the rounds to the back of the magazine. Or maybee I am looking the wrong direction completely. I did use several different kinds of ammo that all ran fne before today. I could go through a magazine or two then it would happen several times in one magazine

how about giving the feed ramp a real good polishing with some fine 600+ paper orif uhave a dremel a cotton cone with sme flitz on it. also inside the chamber to, just roll up the 600+ grip paper around a wooden pencil or dowell and polish it. It sure can hurt a thing. I would also polish the extractor as good as u can with it in place, no sense in taking it all apart, u can polish the back side of that extractor. U just might have a burr somewhere. U also could just have a badrecoil spring , weaker than it shold be even though new. I wold callkahr and present them with your issues and ask if they think a new recoil spring might help. Being u have about 200 rounds and it was OK then, something has changed and it could just be the recoil spring as the culprit.

It could be recoil spring or did you take mags apart recently?

Mags had not been apart, one was new freshly removed from the box. we took them down at the range and cleaned them, didnt seem to help.

One other thing I forgot to mention in that this thing will throw about half th eempties out the right side like I expect but the other half will go straight back either over my shoulder or right off my face, anyone else see this?

Mine throws the empty's out the same way. A couple hit me in the forehead. I just hit 210 rounds. I had trigger reset issues that I fixed relatively simply and that is no longer an issue.

I had about 2 rounds that failed to go all the way into battery and i had to nudge the slide the last 1/8 inch forward but the gun was filthy at the time.

I had one wierd problem that may have been mag or ammo or mag not seated properly where the round wouldn't even load. Slide closed on an empty chamber. Again it was really dirty. I cleaned mine up real good and ordered some more ammo to try it out again.

I used a Maglula speed loader the whole time and that didn't make a difference for me.

See if the follower is catching on the mag release inside the grip as it moves up the magazine. Mine rubs a little and I may sand it but I don't think that is my issue.

It was mid magazine but I didn't really pay attention to which round and it didn't happen again. I think I may have hit the mag release button or something while shooting but I couldn't duplicate it. i think I even dropped the magazine to check things and all was well. I was well into my second box of ammo and it was about 90 degrees and I was in a hurry so unless I can see it happen again I think I can attribute it to operator error or a really dirty gun.

I don't really have the bevel under the slide but it is working OK without it at the moment.

I was mostly testing out the heat related trigger reset issue that is now no longer an issue since the trigger bar fix I'm glad to say and that gun was HOT HOT HOT.

I started shooting at stuff at the 100 yard berm toward the end and it sure was fun. If you can concentrate and control the trigger it's possible to actually get real close to your target at 100 yards. The .45 sure does make a splash when it hits that dirt and the round moves so slow you have about a second after pulling the trigger to look for the impact.

gb6491, no I have not had the extractor or slide apart yet, but I will shortly
yqtszhj, I have not had the issue with the mags dropping or dropping part way out but my freind had it happen repeatedly because he was bumping it with his thumb.
what happened with the triger reset issue? what was the fix?

I went out today with more ammo and it still happened but only a couple times, I will give it a complete stip and good cleaning then try again. I feel a little better. for some reason the guide rod is pretty gummed up after what I thought to be only a little use(50 rounds?).

how many rounds are yall running between cleanings?

is there any ammo that has been a problem for you guys?

I was using some Blazer Brass ammo and up to about 200 rounds without a good cleaning and it was HOT because I was running round after round. Kind of a torture test but I was having a good time anyway. I'll be more thoughtful from now on.

I ordered some PMC the other day to try it out. PMC always worked well in every other gun I have.

Well I gave it its first good cleaning today, we will see if it solves the issue or not, I will say that the barrel does come up smoother than it did when dirty when closing it slow by hand. I did have one box of ammo that was way more dirty than the rest, but I would still think it would run longer than it did.

Ran another 100 rounds through it today the slide failed to go all the way forward 4 times or so.
Anything else I should check before calling the warranty dept? I just want to make sure I have all my bases covered first

I agree that a new recoil spring would be a good place to start if replacing parts.

I guess I dont know, I have only had it out once. Is that the correct way? I will check.
I suppose some things just break, but I am skepitcal a recoil spring would goi bad in a few hundered rounds in a few months, but I will give them a call in the AM.
I hope i can get it straightened out I really like how it shoots, but I just cant trust it
