  • KAHR size I prefer.

Yes, I'm talking P & CW vs PM & CM vs T. I have a friend who pocket carries a CM9 almost everyday. He loaned that CW to me with its pocket holster for several days since I wanted one to pocked carry. I'm sorry but I never made it over a few steps from the car with that thing except I took it on my morning mile walk once. Some can pocket carry the M's but I'm not comfortable doing it, however, I do have a Kel-Tec P3AT that I feel OK carrying in a pocket. We all like to have the smallest piece we can have but as long as it has to be belt carried I find the CW and P conceal just as good as the m on a belt. However, with pocket carry, I would, if I could, but I can't.

I started with KAHR over 10 years ago because of the size and how the K40 felt and shot. However, reliability issues caused us to part company. When the P9 first came out I had to try it. It had some issues also but I worked them out by relieving some of the close tolorances around the chamber block. This P9 and I have been putting up with each other for over 10 years now. Pocket carry will have to go with the Kel-Tec and as far as the T's go my Glock 22 will cover that ground.

I quess the point I'm trying to make is; that if it has to be belt carried I still prefer my P9 (CW9 is same size). I like the feel of my pinky on the gun, the extra stability, the extra round, the extra sight radius and the extra velocity the 3.5" barrel gives me over the 3". I tried real hard to like the M's and some can pocket carry it but I can't.

pocket carried my PM9 for over 5 years in jeans 24/7. not a fast drawarea but certainly no special dress required to do so eithern No doubt if i was gonna waste band carry it wpould be a P or cw series, that extra length and weight meansnothing in a waste band position. Again it is what ever floats on's boat..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I have to agree on liking the K and T size grips. It's a comfort choice. I prefer tiny guns when carrying in my pocket and while the M is as small as a 9mm gets, but still not as small as I prefer. I have considered the P380 for pocket carry, but it really gives no overwhelming reason to switch from my trust Seecamp. If it goes on my belt, then I want the larger size, greater capacity and increased control a larger gun offers.
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

I quess that's the point I was trying to make. I really did want the CM9 to work for pocket carry but when it didn't for me I couldn't justify trading the P9 for something the P9 could do also.

It's odd. My friend carries the CM9 everyday in his front pocket. I felt like I had just shoplifted a grapefruit when I tried it. Sooo when the shirt covers the belt it gonna be the P9. When I have to tuck it in it will be the P3AT.

The closest gun size-wise to the CW/CM9 I have is KT PF9. I pocket & IWB carried one for years but had been wanting something for summer IWB carry wearing Tshirt that was less limpwristable and could easily handle +Ps (especially DPX). The CW9 had looked to me for some time like what I wanted and when I found one at a good price, it turned out to be "love at first sight". The CW9 has quickly turned out to be my favorite IWB gun. But...after pocket carrying a PF9 for 6 years, I started thinking about a CM9 for the same reasons above. Got one at a good price and I can't really tell any difference in pocket carrying it vs the PF9....and it shoots DPX real well. Pocket carrying a PF9 for so long vs something the size of a P3AT probably made for an easier transition for me?

I'm jealous. The Seacamp is such a beautiful piece.

Good decision...no sense buying something new when what you have already (and like) will do the same job. Personally I don't pocket carry either, just don't like the setup! I OWB carry my K9 90% of the time.

I went thru a decision process too when I had my first Kahr, a PM9. I thought I'd pocket carry, but even the PM was heavier in the pocket than I wanted, so I got a P9 and moved to IWB. There wasn't enough of a diff at that point to warrant any need for the PM9 anymore (other than just having more guns), so I unloaded it. Probably my last mini-grip purchase. I just found that I preferred the P grip. Then I got a TP9 and love it as well and even carry it sometimes. In the end, Kahr has nothing to sneeze at and kudos to them for continuing to make all 3 sizes for folks to pick-n-choose what they want and what works best for each person's carry type.

I carry my P380 (with Pearce grip extenders) in a Nemesis Pocket holster (spare mag in a MagPacker pocket holder) about 80% of the time. When dress allows I belt cary my CW40 and a spare mag. I don't feel under gunned with the P380 as I hit the target pretty well with it (great sights) and I use the best SD ammo there is. With it being such a hot summer this year the Pocket rocket has been getting the most travel time...
I have not tried to pocket carry any of the 9mm's out there but they seem larger than pocket carry size to me (Im a big guy, jeans pockets are pretty tight). I have been in the company of some very observant folks with the P380 riding along. Nobody has noticed and I have the upmost confidence no one ever will. Guess I'll stay with what works for now. I have been toying with picking up a PM9/CM9 but it would ride in a Crossbreed Minituck on me.
I have Medium/large-ish hands with long fingers. The Pearce grip extenders on both my P380 mags give me a good grip on the little gun and seem to help with the pocket draw (they help drawing the spare mag ALOT). Riding in the Nemesis they do not contribute to printing at all. It was the same with the old Uncle Mikes that I started with but that combo would yaw around in the pocket of my cargo shorts in ways the Nemesis won't.

Pearce's web site: http://www.pearcegrip.com/ They are cheap and easy to install. Try them if you need more room on the grip.
I was once asked if I was "a paranoid for carrying my Kahr".
                    "Nope" I said, "just prepared".
" prepared for what" he asked?
                    "more stuff than you are"

I love my CW9 for IWB carry, I'll probably be moving up to my P45 soon (once I get it to function 100%...) But to be honest, the CW9 probably fits my hand better, and I don't hit the mag release under rapid fire like I do the P45.

                        Pocket carry???

I felt like I had just shoplifted a grapefruit when I tried it.
...this sums it up nicely, I think.

I've considered getting a P380 or a KelTec for pocket carry, when I can't carry IWB... but I probably won't, I don't shoot small-frame pistols or revolvers well.

Consider the Taurus 738 TCP 380. Under $200 if you get the plain blued slide version, a little more for brushed stainless or black stainless. It has a smooth, light trigger that I think I like better than the Kahr trigger because it stages very gently near the release point, allowing me to take up the slack and refine my aim. Like the P380, it has a slide stop lever which I think it is superior to the P380 because the lever is tiny and only sticks out 1/8", yet is easily operable. The one on the P380 is way huge, IMO. And like the P380, unlike the P3AT and the LCP, it holds the slide open on last round. I find the gun naturally pointable for use at SD distances, which is good because the built-in sights are small and hard to see except in bright daylight. I could paint them, but don't think I'll bother. To sum up:modest investment, great little gun, far superior to the P3AT and LCP, IMO, and for some reason more comfortable to shoot. And it has permanently cured me from wanting one of those expensive P380s.
                          Very interesting...

The CM9 for me is perfect. Sure it's not a little .380, but for the increase in power, it is a good tradeoff with the little bit of added size and weight. Finding the right holster is a big key to pocket carry.

However, if I carry IWB or OWB, it isn't going to be with a Kahr. I personally do not like IWB at all, and I have tried all the various hybrid "Crossbreed-type" holsters as well. If I am going to carry at the waist, it's going to be something with a larger round capacity, like my G30.

But 99% of the time, it's the CM9 in pocket parked in a horsehide Bear Creek holster.
