My range maxes out its pistol range at 15 yds and I reliably hit the paper plate sized target at that distance (CW40 with 155 and 165 gr). But I would not normally choose to shoot farther than that unless the SHTF. Better to have a rifle for hunting and carry the Kahr for close in protection. Have the correct tool for the given job, etc.

I agree whole heartedly, cw45 for up close, ruger blackhawk 357 w/6.5 barrel for a bit further, or maybe mossberg 12 with slugs? any distance and i`ll stick to my rifles: 308; 30-06; 270.

I practice at 5, 10, and 25 yards. I think that pretty much covers any range you might engage for self defense purposes. The only one that I probably need to practice is extreme close range i.e. less than 1 yard.
