I'll add to the fun, and I'm not bashing the DB9 just because this is a Kahr forum. However, I owned two and they were garbage, both of them. The first one I had was all black, and after messing with it for a while it ran about 50% of the time, then sold it. I gave DB some more time, thinking maybe they would fix it right, second one I bought was worse than the first, and ran very sporadically. But the worst part was that slide bite, there's not really anything shielding the slide from digging into your hand when you shoot it, so I had to hold it awkwardly to avoid getting bit.

I liked the concept of the DB9, but the execution of it was poorly done. I did have a few LCP's too, and the DB9 is bigger than an LCP, but it's still small for what it is. I haven't compared one to a Kahr, but I'll be ordering my CW380 this weekend. Seriously, I'd really reconsider the DB9 if I were you, I'm just trying to warn you beforehand. Overall I'd rather have a 9mm than a 380, but not at the expensive of owning a DB9, that wasn't a good experience, but I was super pleased with the CM9 I had.

My sense after reading and watching reviews is that it's pushing the envelope a bit too far. I don't think a reliable 9mm semi-auto that small can be made with current materials and technology.

The CM9 and DB nine are almost identical in size with the DB9 being .1" thinner. The P380 is substantially smaller than the DB9. It's the same size as the DB380. The major difference between the brands is that the Kahr pistols are quality built and the DB9 pistols aren't. If you want a less expensive yet quality built 380 go with the CW380. If you want a less expensive quality built pocket 9MM go with the Kahr CM9.

I would have taken pictures for you, but I sold that DB9 POS to the first guy that would take it. I told him my problem with the gun, but he had big hands so I imagine the gun worked better for him. I never heard any complaints anyway. I'd rather have a KelTec or SCCY or about anything else than a DB9. Even a Bow and Arrow.

muggsy very well stated, very good on ur part. I bet ur wife wrote that for u. Just sayin
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Well the db9 isn't getting much love here for sure. I'm looking for a backup gun that can hit 25 yards and has real sights so I can hit 25 yards with it as I will have to qualify with it timed. I'm not a caliber snob and would rather go for the smallest gun possible while being reliable. Just the price and caliber of the db9 makes it tempting. I don't like my bodyguard 380, bad trigger, mediocre sights, useless laser that just adds weight and a safety ruins it for me.

I'm sure there are forums that wouldn't give Kahrs much love either but I gotta think you'll be doing yourself a favor if you chose the CW380 instead of the DB9. And they really aren't that much more $$$.

25 yards huh? That's a tall order for any small SD gun.

There isn't much love for the DB9 and DB380 anywhere. I've never seen any other guns get bad owner reviews so consistently. I honestly think I can count the number of people I've seen say theirs is actually reliable on one hand. The DB9 is pretty much the same size as the CM9. The CM9 is the same price online as well, even slightly cheaper a few places. The CW380 is smaller and cheaper.

Supposedly the PF9 Keltec is the thinnest 9mm around. And one of the cheapest. In the PF9 crowd, George Zimmerman is one of several that has been required to use one. It is cheap looking like most KelTecs but it is effective. You can even get a 22 conversion kit for it.

Here are some pics from the web that may help...

                      DB9 vs PM9

...looks roughly the same only thinner.

                      ================================================== ==========

                      PM9 vs P380

...plenty of Kahr comparison out there, P/CM380 looks like it will be much smaller although maybe not much thinner than the DB9.

Let's look at weight and reliability from what I've read and experienced:

Ruger LCP - 12 oz. loaded and mine is 100% reliable, pocket carries easy...
DB9 - About 14 oz. Loaded???, no personal experience, ammo sensitive they say.
S&W jframe - 16 oz. loaded w/ 5 rounds, and mine is 100% reliable and pocket carried easy all the time.
CM9 - about 20 oz. loaded and mine is 100% reliable, and is my IWB gun.

For what it's worth I hope this helps.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Even the most forgiving reviewers say the DB9 can't use cheap range ammo, because it needs more oomph for the recoil system to work. (But it also can't use +p. Evidently this gun is Goldilocks)

So if you do get a DB9, it's going to be pretty expensive to train with it.

I read somewhere that DB is made by Taurus?

But a few people here said it was started by disgruntle keltec employees.
Are they getting confused with SCCY? I know SCCY was started by ex Keltec employees.

As for the PF9. My uncle just bought one from Bud's.
He had to clean it real good and did a fluff n buff on the internals.
He's got 200 flawless rounds through it so far.

I carry a CW45 now and if/when im in the market for a small 9mm.
It will be the CM9, cause I'm already comfortable with a Kahr.

The only other option I'm willing to look at would be the beretta pico. But that isn't out yet. It's also hammer instead of striker so I'm sure it won't be as nice a trigger. But they seem to have the added option of getting a built in 70 lumen light. That is a good feature. Mag release seems odd on it.
