I think FMJ is better than nothing, but they do tend to overpenetrate. I don't really go in for all the glamour rounds like the XP, but I do use standard HPs. I didn't have any issues feeding HydraShok or the XTP-loaded PrecisionONe I'm carrying in it now. Both fed and cycled well--even the first round. None of my CW380 issues were nose-dives and I still have a few rounds to finish out the break-in, but the XTP and HydraShok were good to go in my gun.

That's exactly what I like about the FMJ. They never fail to penetrate like some of the hollow points do and they rarely cause the gun to malfunction.

If you want to up your odds on feeding, orient the bullet in the magazine with the front tip in an "X" profile, not a cross profile. I think that effectively rounds it out a little more on the bottom of the tip. If you haven't tested them out extensively, which would be very expensive, you may have inadvertently already oriented them in an "X" orientation, which might explain your success. Hard to know, but if so, then at some point you might experience a nosedive (if put in a cross position), which is a tough malfunction as you need three hands to undo it (half joking). I got that "X" info from someone else who posted, maybe in this forum, maybe on the ammo forum (I forget).
nah, none of that is needed... you need to tweek the gun a little to make it run that's all... I just ran all kinds of flat tip bullets through it with ZERO issues whatsoever, handloads at that... now that I've worked on it a little it will feed anything I've put through it with the exception of Perfecta, don't even bother buying that...

imo the xp is the bees knees in sd rounds, makes perfect sense with the geometry of the bullet itself, ballistics aside its the best of all worlds, flat tip, fmj and a massive wound channel... I've made up my mind that's all I'll carry.. and besides, I like the koolaid

If you do the extractor mod it will solve your problem.... which reminds me, I'm going to have to do that write up soon...

Well I'd be interested in knowing how you worked on the 380 to make flat nose work every time. I've thought about sanding the ramp so that it is more of a straight slope up from the bottom rather than the way it is with a very steep slope at the beginning. What did you do?

I'd also be interested in the extractor mod. I also get failure to return to full battery occasionally. I find if the gun is super lubed up and clean, it won't do that, but that eventually it happens again after maybe a box of ammo. I was hoping it's just a tight design that will eventually work itself out, but would be interested in hearing your thoughts on it.

You probably may want to take your mags apart and make sure the spring isn't installed upside down...

after that thread next time I took her out it was flawless... I failed to mention also I did buff the ramp out a bit as well...

Unfortunately I think the extractor mod well exceeds my gunsmith skills (and the skills of Kahr's gunsmiths). I totally agree with you about the Lehigh XP rounds so the LCP has become my 380 carry gun and I plan to sell my CW380.

^^ yeah I love me some LCP no doubt, they had a contest on an unannounced product, I REALLY hope its a striker fired LCP with a bit more meat on the grip.... that would be sold like hot cakes, just like when the LCP came out...

I'm not sure these would help me. My shells no signs of gouging from the extractor, and I've checked the magazines numerous times and have now switched to MagGuts, being careful orient the springs correctly.

I wonder if the ramp profile can vary just slightly from gun to gun, possibly being just a little too steep on some, with regards to feeding flat nose on the first couple rounds in the magazine and nosedives.

You may have to bend your mag tabs out alittle, did you have this problem before the change??

                              It wasn't.

I like the LCP, but the Kahr is a better shooter with a better trigger.

My bad--apparently, there's already another flash sweepstakes going on and it's likely a pistol: https://www.ruger.com/dataProcess/ne...weeps/?r=y&s=e

Sheesh, they're really cranking these things out!
