New cw380, is this normal?

Picked up the cw380 from the shop and got it home.
I tried taking it down and the slide lock was so stuck I couldn't push it from the back and had to use a small screw driver under the slide lock to pop it out.
After getting the slide off I found a ton of plastic shavings and it looks like the gun has been fired quite a bit. I went to put the gun back together and had a heck of a time getting the slide stop back in. I got some pictures and the slide stop looks pretty roughed up. So do Kahrs normally come this dirty and are these shaving normal?

Yes. Shavings are normal. Just clean them out and prepare to go shooting.

Your gun looks pretty dirty but Kahr does test fire them and ship them dirty. Your dealer may have test fired it also? I think the finish color may exxagerate how dirty it looks too.

The slide stop fits tight. Again I think the finish color shows the rub marks. Are there any gouges or burrs? Removing and installing the pin gets easier through the break-in. Otherwise, check the prep stickies in the new member area to make sure you are lubed up and ready to start. Let us know how she functions.

I ordered it through Davidsons' Gallery of Guns and picked it up at a small local shop. I don't think the local shop has a place to test fire but maybe Davidsons does extra test firing after the cerakote?

The slide stop didn't appear to have any burs but the on area looked like it might have had the slightest indent in it.

I'll double check where I lubed and take it out to get some shots down range and report back.

My first Kahr experience is a little different than I was expecting but hopefully it'll prove itself to be trust worthy.

I will not comment on what I see as far as anything wrong, everyone see's things a bit differently, and I am certainly not judging the firearm or you. I would not be happy, and would not have accepted it in that condition myself.

I'm with berettabone on this one, that gun has been fired more than just the test firing. Did you get a discount price? I hate to say it, but it looks like you may have received a "Davidson's" lifetime warrantied pistol return instead of a new one.

^^^ that may have been the right call but that ship has sailed. I REALLY think the Ceracote is making things look worse than they are. It's rubbing through in places? But shouldn't impair function.

If this is a new firearm, would the Ceracote be coming off in a few test fires? Will it impair function? Of course not, but............................................... .................................................

Yeah, I was going to disassemble at the store but it was so sticky I gave up and figured its just a little tight because it is new. It was a little disappointing when I finally got into it and realized I probably should have denied it.

Hey, don't beat yourself up and get yourself depressed. Clean it up and if you have any problems there are several very, no make that VERY knowledgeable people here that can get you up and running. It is normal for the plastic rails to shed a little during break-in. They have nothing to do with the actual lock-up, they are there to aid in reassembly only. As others have mentioned in past threads, the gun will work perfectly without them.

^^^ yep. I don't see anything there that should keep it from running. And I bet it looks great assembled. So break it in and enjoy it. But let is know if you hit any speed bumps.

It is a Davidson's exclusive. I think they did one with a purple frame in the past.

Jeeze.... stop the presses.

First off, Davidson's does not sell used guns as new. They're a class act. Guns "returned" are marked as used, blem, 2nd, B stock... whatever the manufacturer determines is the verbiage to designate. Davidson's has the option to repair before replacing too. I'd not worry about that sort of thing at all.

Second, the frame holes are drilled (and probably reamed as well) during the manufacturing process. What you're seeing is swarf (google swarf if you need to, please). In manufacturing, that sort of thing is removed, usually be compressed air, sometimes by water. Occasionally a bit gets stuck in a place that makes the swarf removal process ineffective. Happens. Passes by the eye of the assembler. Black on black... in some recess... happens.

Just clean it out, and shoot the fokker like you stole it.

Shooters complain about a chip or chad on the frame rail, or on the back of the frame or any odd place. Clean 'em off and keep shooting. Time and time again, this sort of question has come up, and time and time again, its a flash in the pan.

The finish is the finish... Cerakote will wear. K-Kote will wear. They all wear. That's the way it is. Granted too, like was mentioned, the light colored finish shows every gritty speck and morsel like the glaring wart on a witches chin (with a nod and wink to the recent election).

Forgot to mention too, that the hole in the frame is about as tight as a crab's ass under water, on purpose. It is hard to withdraw the slide stop on a new gun. As you shoot, things will loosen up a bit, and you'll find the pin will ease out after a few hundred full house rounds have gone down the drainpipe.
