  • CW9 Ammo preference?

Given every pistol is unique and people prefer heavier/lighter rounds, which ammunition is very reliable and accurate in a CW9?

  • #2
kahrs are not ammo sensitive at all, accuracy is in the hands of the shooter.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Mine eats +P hollow points and light reloads with out any mulfanction, even during the break in period and without any special preping- just well lubricated with light oil.

Mine has eaten, digested and evacuated all of the rounds that have been put down its throat. That includes my reloads which it gets a steady diet of.

I prefer the 125 grain bullets but also have some 147s.

I will tell you what my Kahr doesn't like.. PPU rounds.. garbage.. My XD has never flinched on anything except those.. I have recently started shooting reloads and it seems to be fine with those as well.

I haven't been able to get my CW9 to fail with any brand I've thrown at it, although I'll admit I haven't tried to feed it steel-cased Russian stuff yet.

Why would you want to, comrade?

Mine does great with Winchester White Box for target shooting and Federal Premium HP for CC duty and occasinional range use. Both in the same grain.

But to just shoot, anything that is on sale. I have not found anything that mine does not like either.

Ok, the group response seems to indicate the CW9 will feed anything up to, and maybe including, LEGO blocks.

A few have indicated prefereneces for ammo - Critical Defense, Golden Sabers, etc.

Did you base those on personal preference or compare different brands for accuracy in your particular weapon?

I'd like to know your experience.

                            Thanks,

Speaking only for myself here, I tend to buy the cheapest brass-cased ammo for plinking that I can find. I have always found my CW9 to be more accurate than I at the 25 feet I typically shoot to (this thing makes me frighteningly accurate too, and I'm not even that great of a shot). So the el cheapo ammo is what I buy. I've fed my CW9 Remington UMC, PMC Bronze, Winchester White Box, this weird Swiss Dynamit Nobel Geco stuff that's hella cheap (seriously, you can get crappy Tula for the same price), BVAC, Blazer Brass, and Federal American Eagle. No problems with any of them, and at 25 feet, I haven't seen any perceptible differences in accuracy (they're all ragged-hole accurate), so I go with what I can get cheapest when I look online.
