    • I bought it from a guy who had it done. I was considering buying a K40 and having it done, but buying the P40 with the porting already done was an easy choice... cheaper!

The price is now $145 plus shipping your barrel and slide both ways.

      Price list:

I go by my middle name... Wynn.

      • 12 July 2012 update: I stoned the extractor claw a bit on the bottom where the case rims slide under it, and then polished the claw with my DLT(Dremel like Tool). At the range today, I had no FTF where the cartridges were halfway into the chamber. I fired about 100 rounds, including nearly a whole 50-round box of Speer Gold Dots with no FTF's. I do still have a problem with most of the magazines... the slide doesn't lock back on empty mag. I had one 6-round and one 7-round extended that always worked, so those are my carry mags. I may have to try a new magazine catch to make the rest work. I replaced all of the magazine followers that I had removed too much of the pins and they wouldn't work with the slide lock any more. I was surprised that 5 out of 7 mags wouldn't make the slide lock back on empty mag, though.

I did some grocery shopping and we had grilled tube steak... hot dogs... for supper, so it was a fairly productive day.

Wifey was researching and looking for job leads in the library. She got laid off Tuesady afternoon. Their patient load was down to 2/3 what they wanted and so they laid off 12 people.

That's going to cut into my discretionary spending a little bit for guns, ammo, and my other "needs" or "wants.

We have our USAF retirements and my Social Security, so we're okay and Wifey has already filed for unemployment. Our only debt is the mortgage and we don't owe more than the tax collector says it's worth.

Sorry to here about Wifey's job. Do you think a reverse mortgage could work for you?
          Very interesting...

          • My 82 yo Dad just recently looked into reverse mortgages. They're not all they're cracked up to be. The amount they charge would be considered usury in any other scenario. Proceed with extreme caution and always consult a real estate attorney.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

            • No, we don't need to do anything like that. We're fine. We only have the mortgage and my hobbies and I can cut back on buying everything that I want for a bit. We just got a new roof and the house Rhino Shield painted, so I was just looking at internal fixes and renovation of some areas of the house. It was built in 1996.

If I just went by the values that the tax collector assigns the house for tax purposes, our house decreased in value by about half since 2007. I think that the last valuation was before we got the new roof and paint job.

Mid-August will be 15 years in this house and we essentially have no equity, especially if you consider the expense of selling a house. We re-financed twice and rolled over the costs, so our payments have gone down and last year we got a bunch of money back on our escrow account because of the falling real estate values.

If we wanted to move, we would have a problem because most of our worth is tied into the house and we would do little more than break even on the house. But we can easily make ends meet without my wife working because of our pensions and my SS. We keep all of our credit cards paid off every month and I've been able to spend a lot of money on whatever I wanted... so it will be hardest on me... sniff, but I have plenty of ammo and lots of goodies... and a LOT of stuff that I need to install... lots of stuff. This house looks like a storehouse in several areas.

Dang! Talk about thread drift. I just checked to see where the heck we were!

Don't worry about us. We made a lot of good choices and I don't consider us "lucky" because we don't "need" Wifey's pay. We're certainly thankful for what we have, because many people are living from paycheck to paycheck and losing a job would be catastrophic. We see it as an opportunity for my wife to find a better, less stressful job.

Oh, I'll add that I checked again and this is MY P40 Blog! I thought that we had hijacked some other member's thread!

                • Like I said, I realize that I have nothing to cry about. Wife's out of my hair now... out LOOKING for a job, instead of working. At least she's not passing by me ever so often and "nagging" me about the stuff I ought to be doing.

Here's an example... my buddy sitting on top of my printer. I got him to put in the tree next to the garage to keep the tree rats off my danged surveillance monitors... driveway alert, security lights, and cameras.

He's to my right and just one of the many things I need to install. It's too danged hot outside now!
