  • Remington Golden Saber 124G HP

Does anyone have any experience with the Remington Golden Saber 124G Jacketed HP in their Kahr PM/CM9s? I'm looking for some HPs for my new (not to the range yet) CM9 but the Remingtons are the only HPs the local gun shop has in store at this time. Clerks were all busy so didn't ask if that is all they ever carry. And at $20/box for either 20 or 25, couldn't tell looking through the locked ammo case, I didn't want to buy something my Kahr might not like. Plenty of round nose Winchester and Federals at Wally World.

I use Golden Sabre's in my 9's including PM, MK, and T Series. I've not had any misfeed or ejection issues

it is a very good round,
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I've used GS's for years in various calibers. I've found that they will cycle in pistols that don't like other HP's, like my old SIG P6.

You can also get the BONDED 124-gr Gold Dot +P in 50-round boxes... has Gold Label saying "Bonded" and "B" in the product number. The Regular Gold Dots are BJHP = Brass-Jacketed HP.

            http://www.remingtonle.com/ammo/gshpj_b.htm

            50-round boxes here @ $26.95 or $24.95 for 10 or more boxes:

The Rem Golden Sabers and the Speer Got Dots are great Defense ammo.
I use the 124-gr Gold Dot +P Short Barrel version in my PM9. Had the Bonded Golden Sabers been available, I would probably be using them, but I had to resupply with what was available and "reasonably" priced.

I've been testing golden sabres and gold dots in both 124 and 147 gr varieties. No failures in over 100 rounds of each. The 147 gr golden sabres seem most accurate for me, but not by too much. PM9

Just wondering here... How many rounds of a HP should I run before I consider it a suitable round for self defense?

After break in with 200 rounds or so of FMJ. I would shoot at least a box of 20... more if you can afford it, to make sure that they feed and function reliably. I usually buy 200 or 250 rounds of defense ammo and shoot a box of 50 for reliability and function testing if it's a change of ammo.

With my carry ammo, Speer Gold Dots. I shot a box of 50 of the LE/DUTY version... cheaper... and carry the Short Barrel version... 127-gr +P in my PM9 and 230-gr in my PM45. I use 165-gr Gold Dots in my P40 because the Short Barrel version is only available in 180 grains.

I use Buffalo Bore 90-gr +P JHP in my P380 for CCW, and I keep CCI Stingers in my .22's for defense... my Walther TPH and my wife's H&R 929... nine-shot revolver.

I keep Remington Bonded 230-gr Golden Sabers in my S&W 645 for defense. It got where I couldn't find the Bonded GS and had to switch to Speer Gold Dots for the Kahrs... SB in the PM45 and regular GDs in the SA Champion 4" 1911 and SA XD45 Tactical 5".

After testing several HP's in my CM9, I settled on the Golden Saber as being the most accurate/best feeding of the bunch. That 's obviously what I carry in my little pistol.

I've only ran 124 +P's and 147 Golden Sabres out of my PM9, but they ran perfectly.

I've run two boxes of the Remington GS 124 gr +p thru my CM9 without a hitch. I want to cycle at least one more box of 20 before calling it good though.

Wynn, I am having some confusion determining the difference in the "short barrel" and regular. I am not seeing any of the Golden Sabers labeled as such. Could you enlighten me on the subject? I this just the 124gn +P? Another question, is the bonded version available as a "short barrel" version? Thank you.
