Newer Uncle Mike's added extensions upwards as sweat guards or shields. I had to cut those off and hem them up because my shirts were being held up... kind of "tented" by the shield and printing all of the time... before I was using my Mini Tucks for all carry, except around the house when I'm not wearing a belt... mainly as my P380 is riding now in an old UM#1 Sidekick. I can draw the pistol without the holster coming out with it!
I mainly use my other UM holsters to store or pre-position my loaded pistols so that the trigger is covered.

All this concern about carrying one up the pipe.... makes a revolver look better and better. I love my PM9, but find myself carrying a revolver concealed more and more. With a concealed hammer there's no hindrance to the draw. contact shots are an option and there's no going out of battery. There are two levels to this, shooting a gun and fighting with a gun. The second presupposes competence with the first. I carry a Kahr often but see the real world strong points of the revolver.

ur logic IMO is sound but in todays world the wheel gun is far down the line as the weapon of choice, although I often feel it is the gun for a woman who knows nadda about guns and is very "over" safety conscious but thinks she wants to carry. 99% of women can clear a misfire in a wheel gun, 100% can unload one with ease and be sure it is empty if kids are around the home etc. Percentages fall way down for a women when u had her a semi auto and expect her to do the above with ease..I have never seen a woma limp wrist a wheel gun. Just sayin.. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Maybe the PKM9 is a full auto version:59:... and how he fired all of those rounds, though it seems he hasn't been to the range for a long time... stuck on 32K!

your pm9 has an exposed hammer? hrmm, mine doesnt. nor have i EVER had a mechanical failure with it. i dont mean to be a smart ass, i just dont get the whole "revolver is a better carry" for mechanical reasons. if revolvers were better, every PD and military in the world would be issuing them, but they arent. Everyone should carry what they are comfortable with. because if it isnt comfy, you are more likely to leave it at home.Originally posted by badge4436 View PostAll this concern about carrying one up the pipe.... makes a revolver look better and better. i front pocket carry my ma compliant pm9 in a remora holster about 6 days a week. it is the only "carry" pistol i have ever owned that has an external safety and i figured i would carry with it off. to be honest, i dont. i leave the safety on and have practiced flipping it off while drawing enough that i dont feel it slows me down in any way. Its as close to perfect a setup FOR ME that i could find.
As far as carrying with a round chambered goes, i personally wouldnt carry any other way. if you were in a situation where you only had one hand free, you would be screwed. i even practice drawing with my weak hand (not easy). A proper holster is the best "safety" for carrying and you should try to find the setup best for you

I carried both revolver and Beretta 92F in my career. Both are good tools. As for me, when it gets down to taking out an assailant at grappling distance I prefer a revolver. option of contact shots without worrying about the slide being pushed back and out of battery upon contact. If I knew a good possibility existed of trouble, such as I did when executing search warrants, I would have the semiauto, sometimes a shotgun and a revolver. Now retired I don't anticipate going on offense again (think military and law enforcement.) In the L.A. area the most popular backup gun for LAPD and LASD is the Centennial style concealed hammer. 38 in a pocket holster in the weak side front pocket. Get into a fight for control of your semi in your holster? Use weak hand to pull revolver from pocket holster (thank you Mr. Mika) put barrel against suspect's body and keep pulling trigger. My point is the semi is great. The revolver also has it's sweet zone. If I know I have to go to a rough area I carry Kahr CW9 or Glock and the revolver. Bedside is a Mossberg 500 with Kahr CW9 or Glock 19. It's all about threat assessment and choices.
