Guess I'm in the minority here but it was worth it to me. I like having the factory DLC and the way I shoot I need all the help with accuracy. LOL I am just at the point in my life I enjoy the finer things and can afford them without worry. Just lucky.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the econo CM version, which wasn't even a thought on the horizon for Kahr when I got my PM in November of 2002. But I can honestly say that even if purchased today, I'd choose the PM over the CM.

Do not discredit the polygonal rifling of the PM version....helps accuracy, easy to clean and doesnt leave those nasty, traceable rifling marks on fired bullets.
I did not like the cheap, press-fit nylon front sight of the CM and even saw one that looked like it had melted from heat on this forum.....I like things tough and capable of surviving the war, not just a battle.

I agree with all of the previous four posts. The PM9 features are worth it to me.

              Exactly the way I feel.

I finally had a chance to see and hold a CM9 awhile ago.
              Honestly, it ain't no PM9!!!

If money were less of an issue, I would want the DLC finish and night sights. +1 to those who go that way. The PM9 equipped that way is perfection. IMO, to choose a SS PM9 with plain sights just to get the barrel and the slide appearance is not a good use of the extra money. But I want to state emphatically that the CM9 is not a cheapened product, is not any less carefully machined or manufactured, and performs identically to the PM9. The changes are a barrel that is like the large majority of pistol barrels from every manufacturer, the outside of the slide has less cosmetic machining and roll marking done to it, it has a MIM slide stop instead of forged, and it uses plastic sights just like Glocks, Walthers and many other quality guns. It is a superb value in a high quality, thin, concealable subcompact hand gun.
                Very interesting...

is the back sight plastic or just the front one. I did not know either was plastic..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

IMO, as far as 2-tone & non-nite-sight version is concern (i.e. comparing apple to apple), between PM9 and CM9, unless you have silver spoon or easy-earn $$$$$$ to burn, PM9 does not worth the price.

                    DLC+nite-sight is a different story.

agree. my first PMJ9 had the DLC fnish and factory night sights. then after Ihad some slide melting done to it, naturally I had to then refinish it, and while I was at it, I took the factory nite sights off and instlled xs big dots. Yup sure pis$ed away some dlc finish and sights money. Course one never knows. j ust sayin

                        OP,

You can do what I did and go the "used" route. From the get-go, I was not interested in the CM9. As soon as I saw the PM9 (model: 9094), I knew that if I was going to buy a Kahr, the PM9 was what I was going to buy. I wanted the black finish with night sights (model: 9 094NS). Few LGS's in my area have a good selection of Kahrs, so what I wanted would have to be ordered.

I lucked out and found a shop that had two "used" PM9's, one 9094 $489 and the other a 9094NS (night sights) for $579. It was a no brainer, yI went with the older one w/o night sights. 2 reasons: 1) It was a blunt-nose model and 2) The stock tritium sights will be replaced by XS or Trijicon sights. As a bonus, my Kahr came with 4 magazines, two additional six-round magazines from the previous owner and I was able to haggle down to $469 and I had them throw in a box of HydraShok's.

Buying a "used" or in my case, a "slightly used" gun has many advantages. You can pick up a used PM9 for just a little more than a new CM9. Akin to car dealerships, there is a larger margin of profit in used guns than new so you have more room to haggle on price or have a few extras thrown in to seal the deal. In addition to absorbing the depreciation, considering the price of ammunition these days, it was also nice to have the previous owner do some of the "breaking-in" for me.

I'm thankful that the guys on this forum talked me into buying a Kahr, specifically, my "used" Kahr. I love the PM9's fit, finish, feel, and quality. I now have a high-end EDC pistol that didn't break the bank to obtain.

                        Buy used and be happy!

Most of what you say is true as long as one can find what one is looking for in a timely fashion and at a good deal locally.

You apparently got a good deal on yours.

There are times when making mods to a used gun to bring it to a level that you want, will push the price past the good deal.

Plus, a new Kahr has a 5 year warranty.

I've had to cash in on my warranty a few times in the past year and a half.

This has been mostly parts but, Kahr has been very good to me in regard to this.

The one time that my PM9 had to go back to Kahr, they paid the shipping both ways.

                            JimC,

The shop where I purchased my PM9 had the 9094NS on the shelf for several weeks. I had already looked over it, test fired it, ect numerous times. The afternoon I went in to purchase it, they had received the blunt-nose 9094 on a trade and had just put it on the shelf. It was perfect timing and I was extremely lucky that I had been delayed on my way to the store. I'm sure I would have been happy w/ the 9094NS but would have eventually spent the money on aftermarket night sights.

Buy used can be a gamble as you never know how the previous owner treated, cared for, and maintained the fire arm. In my case, the PM9 I bought had very few blemishes on it and showed no real signs or wear or even use. However, once I got it home and opened it up, WOW! It was filthy on the inside. I doubt it had ever been cleaned. (That particular gun shop does not take the time or manpower to strip and clean used firearms. They just wipe them off and put them out.)

You never know why someone trades or sells a firearm. They may need the money. They may have buyers remorse. They may not like the feel of it. They may want the same model but in a different caliber. Their wife may demand a reduction of their collection. In the case of Kahr they may not be aware that it requires a break-in period and we're frustrated with it. Or it may be a POS. Hopefully, I didn't get someone else's lemon. But so far, so good.

You are also correct about the warranty. Which raises the question, is the Kahr factory warranty only aplicable to the original owner or does it automatically transfer? I'm not sure how old mine is, so I don't know if it is still under the 5 year warranty. All of the warranty paperwork was in the box so I assume the original purchaser did not file for the warranty.

I'm not sure if I would recommend buying a used firearm off the Internet, especially from a private citizen. I like having a "brick and mortar" dealer that I can go to if I experience problems. You loose that advantage by buying on-line.

I'm a happy customer and fortunate I was able to find the model I wanted and a blunt-nose version at boot!

normally warranty with kahr is not trasferale. but " DON'T ASK DON'T TELL GOES A LONG WAY HERE TO. Probably a phone call to kahr will get u te exacdt birth date of the gun, so u can proceed from there. Proably ur \blunt nose is out of warranty but again if the gun is doing OK, just don't worry about it.
